here's all the refresh steps i did for a fresh setup

-unplug ethernet cable lan to lan on both ends of main router(nayswan router) and tplink router

-reset the archer c64

-access the archer c64 dashboard with the default gateway 192.168.0.1

-after setting up a password, i change right away to AP mode.

-after rebooting, i just finished the quick setup.

-plug first the ethernet cable on main router and the other end to the tplink router. a lan 1 to lan 1 setup.

-since its on an AP mode i can't now use the default gateway of 192.168.0.1. so i connect back to main router wifi > access the dashboard > locate the tplink router to lan section then found the mac address of tplink router and also its new ip address/default gateway. then use it to access the tplink dashboard.

-after that i disabled the dhcp server.

but still it can't access an internet from the main router.

so i check what could be causing this issue and found that the ip address that the devices that connects to tplink router have similar ip address format of 192.168.254.xxx (that .254) since the main router uses a format of 192.168.1.1. so what i did is go the the tplink dashboard using the ip address that i used to access the tplink dashboard when i disabled the dhcp server and then i go to Internet > Lan section to set a static ip with this setup

i used the 192.168.1.200 one since the 192.168.1.2 is already owned by dahua. but still after all this setup and fixes my devices still can't have an internet access. although my laptop would sometimes have an access but its very unstable on phones no luck at all. also after changing the ip address to 192.168.1.200 i should be able to access the tplink dashboard with that ip address but i can't i don't why.

i'm just new to this so i don't know if i'm doing something wrong.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to extend my WiFi to my neighbor's house using a long ethernet cable and a TP-Link Archer C54 (AC1200) as an access point. The main router is a Nayswan router with an IP range of 192.168.1.x.

My setup:

- Nayswan Router (Main) → LAN port

- Long blue ethernet cable

- TP-Link Archer C54 → LAN port (not WAN)

Steps I followed for AP mode:

  1. Factory reset the C54

  2. Connected my laptop directly to C54 (no ethernet cable to main router yet)

  3. Logged into tplinkwifi.net

  4. Switched Operation Mode to Access Point (AP)

  5. After reboot, set static IP to 192.168.1.2 via 192.168.254.254 dashboard

  6. Then plugged the ethernet cable LAN-to-LAN between Nayswan and C54

Issues encountered:

- In AP mode, devices (phone and laptop) connected to the C54's WiFi have no internet access

- Nayswan assigns a 192.168.254.xxx IP instead of 192.168.1.x to connected devices

- The setup only works when I plug the cable into the WAN port of the C54 and keep it in Router mode with static IP 192.168.1.2 — but this creates double NAT

What currently works (but not ideal):

Router mode + cable on WAN port + static LAN IP 192.168.1.2 = internet works at full speed, but double NAT is present.

I want to use proper AP mode (LAN-to-LAN) to avoid double NAT. Has anyone encountered this with the C54 or Nayswan routers? Could this be a Nayswan DHCP passthrough issue, a C54 firmware bug, or something else entirely?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
