I'm really happy that kids are getting taller these days

From Gen Z & younger kids these days seem to grow to be at least 170 cm and taller. My younger nephews and cousins are all 175cm and up.

At our university tallest guys per capita are Chinese Students.

Us considered being weak or small will be thing in the past within a generation

Model minority stereotype is extremely toxic

I remember first time moving to Germany I tried my best to be a law abiding, quiet, stereotypical Asian guy.

Now before we move abroad in Mongolia we are usually told to follow the rules of the country you go, accept anything negative, keep your heads low and finish whatever goal you set. Mainly for pragmatic reasons, bashing someone's skull is not a good for your visa.

But longer I live here more I develop an "attitude". In restrospect of me being a foreigner and being at risk of getting kicked out for too long I have been swallowing my pride.

The thing is other minorities such as Arabs, Turks etc. have negative stereotypes attatched to them. Such as being in criminal business or being aggressive. So essentially even the proudest white supermacists here know to walk with a clenched buttcheeks around middle eastern or black men. One of my co workers once stated how he liked a turkish girl at work, but didn't approach her on account of her brothers likely will beat the snot out of him if he hurt her in any way.

Asians with model minority myth on the other hand had the short end of the stick. As an Asian you are essentially seen as good work mule at best and an easy target at worst. Asians are not seen as a threat as such end up being the primary target for racists and systemic discrimination. You have to be either more hard working or overqualified for opportunities other ethnicities get for less efforts.

I would rather as an Asian be seen as a gangster or a thug than any docile book worm bs.

Asian countries are slowly waking up to racism

You know, if one thing good came out of covid was revealing just how racist Westerners to Asian countries.

As I grew up in Mongolia, racism or bigotry was mostly under tribal or national basis. With more than 95% of homogeneous population aside from the ones who lived abroad and came back no one really experienced racism or understood how it feels.

Heck the larger racial concept of "Asian" itself was a foreign idea. Since Mongolians would just indentify themselves as Mongolian or based on their clan names.

Society itself mainly focused on things like wealth inequality, our own inner conflicts and issues. Mongolians were if not more bigoted towards each other than to foreigners.

As for YT people, essentially they got a pass and any YT tourist strolling around was immune to any judgement and bigotry under the fact that most Mongolians essentially saw them as just "foreign". In fact most people would give them special treatment, likely the same way someone would treat a clueless toddler or because thats how Mongolians would expect to be treated if they moved abroad. Keep in mind that hollywood movies were only depiction they ever saw.

First time coming to a Western country as a tourist was on the other hand was utter shock. The same warm welcoming we give to foreigners were not present.

Flash forward to covid time, for the first time as everyone glued to TV saw all the racial attacks on Asians abroad. National TVs were broadcasting racial discrimination our family and friends suffer for the first time. Even the countryside folk who can't form a sentence in english were able to witness all the horrid acts of racism.

It is a gradual process, but sooner than later Asians in Asian countries will realize that the Racism towards Asians is no longer some incident between 2 people, with the victim being partically at fault, from it is "just Chinese at fault" to "to racists all Asians are the same" and final acceptance of Racial Hierarchy and Discrimination YT people put worldwide

Do Asian men get punished for being masculine?

Living in a Western country I see a common trend of Asian men who are physically masculine aka strong, outspoken and muscular tend to be either lone wolves or hang out around close friends with similar interests.

In my college dorm I feel the same thing. In large group of mixed international students masculine Asian dudes seem like to be more or less excluded. With strong gatekeeping from the other international students. Stereotypically "nerdy" Asian guys on the other hand are much more accepted in the "tribe".

What argument you are tired of hearing whenever racism towards Asians is discussed?

Whenever I scroll or talk open about racism towards Asians there will be at least comment on how Asian countries are more racist. Or someone claims to be Asian and have never experienced anything. Or simply get gaslighted about being overly sensitive.

For them calling out on their racism is much more offensive than the actions of the racists

I used to be one of the mongoltoigoo l suuna kind of guys. But after living in 5 plus years abroad, that idea feels a very limiting and comes with extra load of baggage no one wants to admit.

If you lived abroad for a long time how did your perception change.

For starters there is nothing wrong with admitting how Mongolian men are good looking a.f

There is a common theme of Mongolian men getting harassed, called insecure or toxic online for expressing themselves.

Even on this sub you'll notice how any notion of Mongolian men dating outside of our culture gets downvoted to oblivion, meanwhile every once in a while some passport bro comes in asking how to better shaah a Mongolian woman.

Mongolian men like other Asian men have been repeatedly asexualized, stereotyped and racially caricaturized in Western media. Thanks to social media that outlook is slowly changing.

But still there is a theme of defeatist attitude among us. Honestly Mongolian men are quite well looking, capable, masculine men. Don't let some foreign agenda to push you down.

I used to be in a long term relationship with a Mongolian woman abroad. After break up though started actively dating Western girls

For one, I certainly see no difference between Mongolian women and Western women personalitywise much. Different face, same headache. With added bonus of long term residency if you marry one.

Secondly as long as you take care of your looks and sense of style well, its actually not that bad when it comes to dating market in Western countries these days as a Mongolian/Asian man. Not to mention how new gen is tall af.

If you are a Mongolian bro dating/long distancing a foreign girl from Mongolia or someone planning to move abroad, you should certainly excercise the thought of it.

I feel like its the best time to reverse passport bro to Western countries as a Mongolian man

Back in Mongolia working as a tour guide and a hotel clerk I saw this b.s little too often.

Most Mongolians are unaware of how diasporas get treated abroad. If someone is not Mongolian they just immediatelly assume the best intentions from that guy and go out of their way to treat them a lot better than Mongolians.

Foreign workers are already paid more than a Mongolian employer in our own freaking country, yet we still go out of our own way to treat them extra nicely.

Some instances such as some hotels or guesthouses being "foreigner" only and having the audacity to state how Mongolians are not allowed in. Some dude advicing his foreign buddy to tip less to a hotel bellboy. "English Teachers" who speak worse English than an average Mongolian highschooler being employed and receiving 3-5 times the salary of a Mongolian professional teacher. Mining rats who feel entitled to receive 10 of a salary of a Mongolian collegue and so on. One time a poor taxi unc spend 4 hours moving these tourists back and forth only for them to pay 10'000mnt and go back inside the hotel. The poor dude couldn't do anything with the hotel security not letting him in. Also one time our hotel overbooked rooms, so either had to allow chinese embassy workers or australian mining rats to check in. Of course they decide to prefer the mining rats, kudos to the chinese cause they fought their way getting the rooms. Only I as a clerk had to deal with the entitled white pieces of stains who would refuse to go to a 4 star hotel over a 5 star one.

If you are abroad you will never experience the same level of treatment. Same mofo you invited to your house and went out of your way to help, will not piss in your direction if you were set ablaze in their home country. We pander to this mofos like they are someone close to us. Yet if you live abroad they treat you like a second class citizen.

Don't get me wrong, I dislike the racist uncs who shout and harass foreigners. But guess what in Western countries you'll experience the same thing 10 times worse. And there will be no save-a-foreigner hoes taking your side.

We automatically assume that foreigners should be treated better than us, if someone beefed with Mongolians, Mongolians would rather have more faith in a foreigner than the Mongolian. In our freaking country we are expected to get paid less, not be allowed in specific foreign hubs etc.

I'm not pointing fingers, but хүүхнүүд бас л үүнд хувь нэмэр сайн оруулдаг шүү
