NC- Is there anything I can do to fight this
Location- US- North Carolina
I (36M) have a five year old daughter with my ex (36F). I currently pay 1300 in child support based on both of our income. She also has two older sons if that matters but I have no other children. She has a live in boyfriend that also has two children
We are currently under review for child support, and I find out she’s unemployed and in nursing school. Our daughter is not yet in kindergarten but will be in the fall. She has been in half day prek since she was 1 which is about 500 bucks a month per my ex. And she claims that she still needs child care while she’s in school. The half day prek follows the standard traditional school calendar, so after it ends my ex plans to put her in half day camp which is about 175/week.
On top of her being unemployed she’s now sending our daughter to the same private school that her older kids and her boyfriend’s kids go to. That costs about 800 a month. She sent me a message asking to split the cost of private school and in turn not go back to court for child support back in January and I declined because I did not agree with the costs. However it’s now being added into the work sheet as an extraordinary expense because the courts are claiming that that its a better school and that before my daughter was born I knew that this private school was the standard. It was also ordered that I split the cost of her sports and activities
Because of these changes my child support is set to go up by 1036 dollars. However, I have text proof that she originally only requested an increase of 400 dollars ( half of the price of school). The courts basically said oh well I should have agreed then.
So basically is there anything I can do to fight this increase.
I just took her back to court for custody and I was awarded less time than the original order so that’s out of the question
I live in a basic two bedroom apartment while my ex lives in a big house with a fairly new car and is playing happy family with a man who makes way ore than do and I just don’t understand it
