like the one you would least like your opponent to violate in round?

I think China would probably be the most fun topic because of the aff ground, and i think it'll probably win for 27-28. It seems like, unlike a lot of other topic proposals, the China topic proposal isn't aimed towards having just a few different topical affs. Instead, it relies on the lit base, various disads, the unilat and multilat counterplans, and the "China says no" solvency deficit to check aff ground. There are a lot of viable disads, but the vast majority of them have the same link, that being "the plan signals friendlyness towards China". Because of that, I believe that the best affs on the China topic will dodge neg generics by proving three key factors;

1. Working with China is necessary to solve the impact.
2. China wants the plan.
3. The plan DOES NOT make concessions towards China.

There are definitely some affs that could do this in my opinion.

1. On space; lunar deconfliction and SSA seem extremely viable because they don't require China and the US to work together directly, so tech export links won't function.
2. On climate; both countries have accused the other of disguising surveillance balloons as climate-monitoring weather balloons. An aff that creates a tracking system for any weather balloon that either nation flies over the other's airspace could be quite successful. It's technically topical because an agreement about coordinating climate monitoring is a climate change agreement, and requiring a climate advantage would mix burdens.
3. On global health security; synthetic DNA/RNA screening is gonna be HUGE, maybe even aff of the season.

In summary, the best affs are going to be, roughly in order, synthetic DNA screening, space situational awareness, lunar deconfliction, and weather balloon tracking.

I.E. videos of rounds where the aff reads a K aff with a plan, or a constitutive affirmation of the resolution.

I just realized the list of topical affs on the china topic is like crazy big. some examples:

• climate affs
  • -dark skies zones
  • -panda zoos (diplomacy/biodiversity)
  • -natural disaster preparedness (fem floods aff from the 2016 china topic)
• global health security
  • -contraceptives
  • -deep sea REM mining (to decrease medical equipment prices)
• space affs
  • -trump and xi go to space and experience the overview effect and/or die
  • -ban on asteroid mining

Why isn't AI a topic area in the Western Balkans topic? it's the foremost issue of Balkanpolitik. I've heard Croatia and Serbia are both on the brink of GPT-2 level intelligence. Surely balkASI is coming soon, right?

Jayveerpositionality is like when there's a judge kick after the round if there's a case turn but if there was a. uhh. um. it solves condo offense because don't ask too many questions ok. better than condo because "jayveerpositional" is fun to say.

I'm not affiliated in any way with Haku, I'm just a user who likes what they do. Haku.cards is another wiki scraper search engine, like Logos, but this one is more updated because it also gets cards from LD and PF. I like it more than Logos and more people should be using it IMO

Yes I know the topic areas being voted on have been picked (Latin America, South Asia, North Africa, foreign aid, China, West Africa, South America, Southeast Asia, Western Balkans, nuclear arms control, presidential war powers, Japan/korea/Kuwait/Bahrain). Most of these are lowk kinda ass IMO, however I like the China topic and especially the space topic tho. I'm wondering what else you guys would want to debate over in future years. For example, I think disaster response would be a cool topic, also i think a renewable energy topic would be cool.

Does anyone know any debate resources (round recordings, round docs, blogs, videos, slideshows, papers, whatever) that were active for the 2011-12 topic (space exploration)? I want to see what arguments would have been big at the time.

Could any debate uncs let me know what args were big on the space topic in the national circuit? how did the meta change throughout the year? was it mostly like foreign policy stuff or pie-in-the-sky arguments like dyson spheres and kardashev brains and vaccum decay? Space colonization will most likely be the next LD topic, so I just want to look into this. I tried the 3nr, but all of the links to the demo debates expired.

All the big LD camps

We did it everyone!
