So a little context I’m a F(26). I surf my local spot a lot where there are not a lot of female surfers and there have been many times where I’m pumping or riding down the line on my short board and I have to kick out because a male surfer is paddling out and refuses to go on the inside of me and duck dive the wave. It happens all the time so I’m pretty use to it at this point. This morning though the unfortunate happened and there was a guy on a very long board who was paddling out on the inside of me…I was going really fast down the line and checked to make sure I’d get by him. All looked well but I was going to kick out early just in case…for some reason ‘maybe he thought I wasn’t going down the line very fast’ he tried to beat me on my right side as I was kicking out and the tail of my board completely ran him over…I feel so terrible. I had no time to go straight or I would have hit him head on…and it was the 2nd section of the wave it’s not like I dropped in with someone in the way, I would never do that. He said he was okay and apologized but I know my board hit him hard. I felt it. Anyways….just came on here in hopes someone would tell me that sometimes accidents are unavoidable I guess. 😥
