Wanting to learn russian (only reading and listening)

Hi, I am from the Netherlands, and I have wanted to learn Russian for a while now, but I haven't really had time to start yet. The summer vacation is almost starting, so I am going to have a lot more time on my hands. Now I know the question for tips on learning Russian so you can hold a conversation has already been asked a lot, but I want to specifically learn how to read and listen to Russian. I am not really interested in learning to speak Russian because I don't have any use for it, and I know that if you don't keep speaking it regularly to people, you are going to lose it, so learning to speak it seems kind of pointless to me. (I know that when you are learning to listen to it, you automatically get to speak it a little bit, but I mean that I don't want to specifically focus time on learning to speak it.) Does anyone have tips for learning to read and understand Russian, and is it possible to give an approximation on how long it would take to read children's books? I have read it takes around 1100 hours to be able to hold a basic conversation, but is it different for reading/listening? Thanks for the tips in advance!
