Offering : Russian, Seeking : English

Hi! I’m looking for a language exchange partner.

I’m a native Russian speaker learning English. I work in IT, love mountains, sports, and MMA. Happy to help you with Russian and chat about real-life stuff, not textbook dialogues.

Кто-нибудь хочет помочь с языковым обменом? 🇬🇧🇮🇩🇷🇺

привет! Я изучаю русский язык и общаюсь с людьми из разных стран.

Мне интересно, есть ли здесь носители русского языка, которые тоже изучают иностранные языки? Какие языки вы сейчас учите и почему?

Я сама изучаю русский, английский и индонезийский ))

Can someone explain to me the verb to be and to have?

I started to learn Russian yesterday, and there is something I don't understand. I know the basics conjugation like ya ty on/Ona my ty oni yest, but how do I say, for example, Anastasia is in the park? Or is Anastasia Russian? And the verb to have has 3 words, the 1rst word is U. The second word is the pronoun, right? And the 3rd word is yest, I don't understand it. How do I say Vladimir has 26 fingers? Or Vladimir has red hair? Can someone explain it to me? It's complicated 😅😅😅

FINALLY finished the cursive alphabet+ my notes

On the second picture, how do my cursive words look? Any suggestions?
-
-
-sentence structure- it seems like Russian doesn’t have many verbs? In English it would be “I am at the metro” but in Russian “я в метро” literally means “I at metro” but it’s understood as “I’m at the metro” ?? I’m sort of confused!
-
-
-also, is cursive writing the main thing? While I’m learning, should I start writing in cursive to get used to it?

Help me with Russian

A lot of people are asking why I want to learn Russian…well I’m intermediate in French and I find other cultures and languages very interesting and fun. I want to be a well rounded person that doesn’t ONLY speak English ;)

I struggle with
-remembering the different endings depending on whether the word is female or male..I have learned French and I know that they use Male and female ARTICLES but in Russian they change all the words? I would like some advice to understand!
-listening comprehension
-determining the gender of the word

I’m also worried because some native Russian speakers commented that some of my grammar is wrong? I use an app called Busuu and I just hope it works. Here are today’s notes and yesterday’s!

Learning Russian. Any tips?

I’ve been learning Russian for the past 3 weeks. I decided to learn it because I was bored and wanted something challenging. I use two apps: Busuu and Memrise. Busuu has structured lessons that help me learn, and Memrise is vocab words, to expand my vocabulary. After my lessons (3 Busuu lessons, 1 Memrise lesson, 1 cursive letter-everyday), I write it down on my white board. Does anyone have any tips on what I learn daily?

Day 6 of Learning Russian

Places

Today’s lesson was about Places, I learnt the vocabulary of different places that are listed below:

  1. Магазин - Shop
  2. Аптека - Pharmacy
  3. Музей - Museum
  4. Театр - Theatre
  5. Университет - University
  6. Школа - School
  7. Офис - Office
  8. Больнца - Hospital
  9. Парк - Park
  10. Отель - Hotel

Note: Nouns ending in ‘’ can be both masculine and feminine. There is no rule to define their gender, so you need to remember it. E.g. отель, Преподаватель, секретарь are masculine while площадь (square) and церковь (church) are feminine.

Here / There

From the second or third day I've been reading the word это that means ‘This is’ and today I was introduced to “Here / There".

ЗДЕСЬ / ТУТ (here) <=> ТАМ (there)

‘Здесь’ and ‘тут’ both mean ‘here’, but ‘тут’ is more colloquial.

Since both these words need some context to understand them, so the next lesson was…

HERE IT IS / OVER THERE

For ‘Here it is’ Вот он is used and for ‘Over there’ Вон он is used.

NOTE!

  • We use the words ‘вот’ and ‘вон’, when showing the direction by gesture.
  • Вот’ is used when the place is just near you, ‘вон’ - when it is a bit far.
  • You choose a pronoun (‘он’, ‘она’, ‘оно’), depending on the gender of the noun.

And with this lesson, I wrapped up my today's journey. See you tomorrow.

What are good apps to learn Russian? (Preferably from German to Russian)

I have been trying to learn Russian with Duolingo for over a year but I am extremely disappointed by the pronunciation and lack of grammar lessons. That I was also only allowed to learn it from English to Russian made it slightly harder. I hope you can give me good advice, it does not matter if the service is free or not but I at least want some reviews from people who maybe have made their own experiences with certain sites and apps.
