NATO equipment in Ukraine

UkraineToday, we will discuss NATO equipment in the conflict in Ukraine, or Russia's special military operation in Ukraine.

Leopard

So, let's start with the most hyped-up tank, the Leopard, and its modifications. The tank itself performed rather poorly in two key events of this conflict, namely the failed Ukrainian counteroffensive in Zaporozhye and the Ukrainian invasion of the Kursk region.

The main disadvantage of the tank was its lack of armor on the sides of the hull and turret, as well as its completely unprotected roof and ammunition storage located in the rear compartment of the turret.

Now, let's take a closer look. The NATO school of tank construction has always focused on the frontal protection of the tank, while the Leopard's side armor and turret armor are only 45mm thick. But why is this a disadvantage? But because modern warfare is a drone war and the Soviet-Russian tank building school is much better suited to its leadership, because 80 percent of the entire Leopard is a tasty morsel for the drone's FPV operator, and the ammunition moved to the back of the tower is generally the Achilles heel of the machine, because if a tank shell hits the tower and the ammunition detonates, the ejection panels will save the crew, but if the drone hits, they do not guarantee survival, because the drone can fly in from the top and the panels will no longer save the tank, and the tank's turret will most likely become a second armstrong.

If we go back to the failures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Zaporozhye and the Kursk region, we will see that Leopards, regardless of their modifications, burn like matches.

Bradley

However, the next vehicle, specifically the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, performed quite well, at least at the beginning of the conflict.

Powerful ATGMs, a Bushmaster autocannon, and excellent armor and a rear ramp make the Bradley IFV the best infantry support vehicle in this conflict compared to Soviet-Russian BMPs.

Of course, the Bradleys also burned and are still burning on the battlefields of the Special Military Operation, like all other equipment, but if I had to choose between the BMP 3 and the Bradley, I wouldn't hesitate to choose the latter. Additionally, the fact that the Bradleys are being repaired and used by the Russian Armed Forces in combat is a testament to their effectiveness. While these vehicles are primarily used by elite units like the Vityaz frontline special forces, it's worth noting that even the Russian military acknowledges the Bradleys' capabilities.

BBM Humvee

The Humvee is the most common type of armored vehicle in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but it is far from the best. There are numerous videos and photos of the vehicle and its occupants being beaten like blind and deaf kittens.

Why is that? And that's because the BBM is simply outdated, because unlike the Russian Tigr, Typhoon of the Airborne Forces, and Akhmat, the Humvee is an old man who either needs major repairs or retirement. The Humvee is poorly protected not only from RPGs, but even from small arms, as its sides barely hold the shots of the PKP, and the turret and its design leave much to be desired.

Of course, I understand that there are still a lot of armored vehicles that I haven't written about, from the MAX PRO to the Challenger and the Abrams, but we'll talk about these and many other vehicles another time. In the meantime, please let me know if you agree with my opinion or not. I'm looking forward to your constructive criticism or positive feedback!
