It's a small collection, but I enjoy collecting coins.

I have a small collection of old Indian coins from the Republic of India and British eras.

I Built Privacy Guard – An Android App to Help Protect Your Screen in Public

Hi everyone,

Over the past few months, I've been working on a side project called Privacy Guard.

The idea came from a simple problem: whenever I used my phone on public transport or in crowded places, I noticed how easy it was for people nearby to see messages, emails, banking apps, and other personal information.

So I decided to build an Android app that helps reduce shoulder surfing by adding a customizable privacy layer over the screen.

Features

  • Adjustable privacy intensity
  • Quick enable/disable controls
  • Modern Material Design UI
  • Lightweight and battery-friendly
  • Easy setup and customization

Challenges

Some of the biggest challenges were:

  • Creating a privacy effect that remains usable
  • Balancing visibility and protection
  • Supporting different screen sizes and Android versions
  • Keeping performance smooth while running in the background

What I Learned

Building Privacy Guard taught me a lot about:

  • Android system overlays
  • Material Design 3
  • Performance optimization
  • User privacy and accessibility considerations

Looking for Feedback

I'd love to hear your thoughts:

  • Would you use something like this?
  • What privacy features are most important to you?
  • What could make the app better?

Play Store

Thanks for checking out my project. Any feedback is appreciated!

Looking for Feedback on Privacy Guard - Protect Your Screen from Shoulder Surfing

Hi everyone,

I recently built an Android app called Privacy Guard and I'm looking for honest feedback before I continue improving it.

What problem does it solve?

When using your phone in public places like buses, trains, cafés, offices, or waiting rooms, people nearby can sometimes see your messages, emails, banking apps, or other private information.

Privacy Guard helps reduce this by adding a customizable privacy layer over the screen.

Current Features

  • Adjustable privacy intensity
  • Quick enable/disable controls
  • Lightweight and easy to use
  • Works across apps
  • Modern Material Design interface

Questions

  1. Does this sound useful to you?
  2. What features would make you install an app like this?
  3. Are there any privacy concerns or limitations I should consider?
  4. How would you improve the user experience?

I'm a solo developer and would really appreciate any feedback, criticism, bug reports, or feature suggestions.

Thanks for your time! 🙏
