Universal, easy, step‑by‑step instructions with travel from PoK + useful extras

1. Before you start

Recommended level: 55+
Core idea: The quest is linear and gated by True Spirit faction—just follow these steps in order.   EQProgression

Pre-farm items (optional but efficient)

• *Rathe Mountains
  • Envy & Woe: from Glaron the Wicked

  • 6 random pages/notes** from trash
  • 3 books from Lord Ghiosk

You can grab these whenever you’re in those zones to save time later.

1. Step‑by‑step main quest (with PoK travel)

Step 1 – Tiny Gem (needed to start the epic quest line)

Travel: PoK ~ Butcherblock ~ Ocean of Tears

1. From PoK:
   • Butcherblock stone.
2. In Butcherblock, go to the dock ~ take boat to Ocean of Tears.
3. In Ocean of Tears, go to Cyclops Island (approx +2500, -3000).EQProgression  [quarm.guide]
4. Kill Captain Surestout* ~ spawns “a lesser spirit”.
5. Say to the spirit:
   • i wish to know more
6. Receive Tiny Gem.

(Alt spawns: Peg Leg in Butcherblock, iksar manslayer in Field of Bone, Blinde in Rathe—same dialogue, same Tiny Gem.)   EQProgression  quarm.guide

Step 2 – Bondl Felligan & Opaque Gem

Travel: PoK → Freeport

1. From PoK:
   • Click: Freeport stone (West/North Freeport).
2. Go to North Freeport field area outside the walls.
3. Find Bondl Felligan behind a fake wall in the field.   quarm.guide  Fanbyte EverQuest
4. Give Tiny Gem to Bondl ~ he starts walking.
5. When he stops, say:
   • you can buy booze
6. He continues to Jade Tiger’s Den basement. Follow him.
7. In the basement, a greater spirit appears to his right.
8. Say to the greater spirit:
   • Heyokah ~ receive Opaque Gem
   • Walk the path ~ despawns and advances faction.

Step 3 – Ooglyn event (Challenge of Patience)

Travel: PoK ~ Erudin ~ Erud’s Crossing

1. From PoK:
   • Click: Erudin stone.
2. In Erudin, go to the dock → boat to Erud’s Crossing.
3. In Erud’s Crossing, find Ooglyn around (-920, +1630).   EQProgression  quarm.guide
4. Give Opaque Gem to Ooglyn.
5. She respawns and starts swimming after ~10 seconds—follow her.
6. She stops around (-1580, +4160) underwater and says something like:
   • “Ok, here is place for you to for waiting. Hab fun shaman!”
7. Stay there. Do not move.
8. Over ~20–30 minutes, these spawn in order at/near that spot:
   • Srafen the Soaked
   • Dillon the Drowned
   • Froham the Forgotten
   • Abe the Abandoned
   • a greater spirit
9. Talk through their dialogues (safe to just hail and follow prompts).
10. The greater spirit at the end advances your quest and faction.

>Tip: Bring Enduring Breath and maybe a tracker to ease anxiety about missing spawns.

Step 4 – Rathe Mountains weapons (if not prefarmed)

Travel: PoK → Rathe Mountains

1. From PoK:
   • Click: Rathe Mountains stone.
2. In Rathe Mountains, find:
   • Glaron the Wicked → drops Envy and Woe.
   • Tabien the Goodly → drops Marr’s Promise.   EQProgression  quarm.guide

Keep these for later turn‑ins.

Step 5 – True Spirit faction loop (Spirit Sentinel)

Travel: PoK → Emerald Jungle

1. From PoK:
   • Click: Emerald Jungle stone.
2. Find Spirit Sentinel near the pond or ruins.
3. You’ll be doing multiple dialogue/turn‑in loops with True Spirit spirits (often via the wandering spirit in West Karana or the Sentinels) to raise faction.   Fanbyte EverQuest

>Practical approach:
Follow a modern written checklist (EQProgression/Quarm) for the exact faction loops—just always do every dialogue and every turn‑in they offer. Don’t skip lines.

Step 6 – City of Mist setup (books, pages, icon)

Travel: PoK → Emerald Jungle → City of Mist

1. From PoK:
   • Click: Emerald Jungle stone.
2. In Emerald Jungle, go to the northwest corner → zone into City of Mist.
3. Inside City of Mist:
   • Kill Lord Ghiosk for:
     • Historic Article
     • Head Housekeeper’s Log
     • Crusades of the High Scale
   • Kill trash for:
     • Crier’s Scroll, Merchant’s Letter, Personal Diary Page, Priest’s Diary Page, Written Announcement (6 random pages).   quarm.guide
   • Find Icon of the High Scale as a ground spawn in an upper room.

You’ll also return here later for High Scale Kirn, NehAshiir**, and **Lord RakAshiir.

Step 7 – High Scale Kirn (The Hole)

Travel: PoK → Paineel → The Hole

1. From PoK:
   • Click: Paineel stone.
2. In Paineel, go through the city to the Hole entrance.
3. In The Hole, find and kill High Scale Kirn.   Fanbyte EverQuest
4. Loot Iksar Scale and any needed quest piece (Ancient Journal, etc., depending on guide).

Step 8 – Neh`Ashiir (City of Mist)

Travel: PoK → Emerald Jungle → City of Mist

1. Same route as Step 6.
2. In City of Mist, find and kill Neh`Ashiir (upper temple area).   Fanbyte EverQuest
3. Loot Neh`Ashiir’s Diary or related piece as per your checklist.

Step 9 – Lord Rak`Ashiir & Spirit of the Tormented

Travel: PoK → Emerald Jungle → City of Mist

1. Again, zone into City of Mist.
2. Go to the temple area.
3. Use your Iksar Scale and other required items to trigger Lord Rak`Ashiir.   EQProgression  Fanbyte EverQuest
4. Kill Lord Rak`Ashiir (small group recommended at 58).
5. Loot Lord Rak`Ashiir’s Heart.
6. This spawns Spirit of the Tormented.
7. Kill it → loot Tear of the Tormented.

Step 10 – Plane of Fear: Child’s Tear & Iksar Broodling

Travel: PoK → Plane of Tranquility → Plane of Fear

1. From PoK:
   • Click: Plane of Tranquility stone.
2. In PoT, find the Plane of Fear portal → click in.
3. Inside Plane of Fear:
   • On Live, you can use a harbinger of Fear to get epic pieces that used to drop from golems/Cazic.   Fanbyte EverQuest
   • Otherwise, kill Dread, Fright, Terror for Child’s Tear.
   • During these fights, Iksar Broodling may spawn—loot Iksar Broodling’s Tear.

You’ll need a group or raid for this, but on Live it’s usually quick.

Step 11 – Final True Spirit / Spirit Sentinel turn‑ins

You now have:

• Child’s Tear
• Tear of the Tormented
• Iksar Broodling’s Tear
• Books, pages, icon, weapons

Follow your chosen written checklist (EQProgression/Quarm/ZAM) to:

1. Turn in the Rathe weapons, CoM books/pages, Icon, and Tears to the appropriate True Spirit / Spirit Sentinel / greater spirit NPCs in:
   • Emerald Jungle
   • West Karana / wandering spirit
   • Other True Spirit spirits as directed.   EQProgression  Fanbyte EverQuest
2. This will eventually send you to the Plane of Sky for the final test.

Step 12 – Plane of Sky final fight

Travel: PoK → Plane of Tranquility → Plane of Sky

1. From PoK:
   • Click: Plane of Tranquility stone.
2. In PoT, find the Plane of Sky portal → click in.
3. In Plane of Sky, follow your epic script:
   • Do the final True Spirit turn‑ins.
   • This spawns the final epic mob.
4. Kill it with your group/raid.
5. Receive Spear of Fate.

3. Quality‑of‑life tips

• Bind spots:
  • PoK (default hub).
  • Emerald Jungle (for CoM + Sentinels).
  • Freeport (for Bondl / early True Spirit loops).
• Faction safety:
  • Always finish dialogues and hail every spirit.
  • Don’t destroy any epic items until you’re completely done.
• Live server perk (Erollisi Marr):
  • Harbinger of Fear in Plane of Fear makes the Child’s Tear step much easier.   Fanbyte EverQuest
• Good duo partners:
  • Monk/SK/Paladin for CoM and Hole.
  • Any tracker (ranger/druid/bard) for Quillmane and Rathe named.

4. Fun / interesting bits

• The Shaman epic is one of the most lore‑heavy epics—almost everything is about your relationship with the True Spirit line and your deity.   Fanbyte EverQuest
• The Ooglyn event is intentionally slow: it’s literally called the Test of Patience in many guides.
• On modern Live, the epic is much more about logistics and travel than raw difficulty—exactly what this guide is meant to solve.
