Full Extension takes how long to come back?

It’s been two months post-op and I still haven’t gotten my full extension back.. doing the weighted stuff at PT to help and leg extensions on the machine. The quad is so weak still… I can barely do 10 lbs on the leg extension machine while in my non-surgery leg I’m able to do 55lbs no problem… I guess all this is normal and takes time and more training :)

[Biomedical Engineer] [Atlanta, GA] - ~$30–31.90/hr + Benefits (3 YOE, MS BME) Salary Progression / Career Advice?

Salary progression so far:
3D Printing Technician ~$13.50/hr PT
Research Assistant ~$23.50/hr PT
R&D Intern ~$15/hr PT
Teaching Assistant ~$23.50/hr PT
Research Biomedical Engineer ~$30–31.90/hr FT
Lead Research Specialist ~$30/hr FT

I’m starting my 4th year working full time in a university neuromechanics lab after completing my MS in Biomedical Engineering. I have about 3 years of full-time experience now, mostly in research/biomechanics/neuroengineering work.

I’m feeling stuck compensation-wise and have been trying to switch jobs, but it’s been difficult. Current role has strong university benefits including a 9% retirement match and good stability, but the salary feels low for my education and experience level.

For people in BME/medical devices/research engineering:
- Is this compensation normal for someone with a BS and MS in BME and ~3 years experience?
- How much does academia suppress salary compared to industry?
- What kinds of roles/titles should I target to break into higher compensation ranges?

Would especially appreciate advice from people who transitioned from university research into industry. Thankss.

Advice on Salary Progression?

I’m now starting my 4th year of working full time in a neuromechanics lab at a university after completing my masters in biomedical engineering. I’m not motivated to keep working in this pay anymore but right now that’s all I got. I’m trying to switch jobs but it’s been hard.

Is this normal pay for someone with bachelors and masters in BME and 3 years of work exp? Everything else around me tells me it’s not. But I do have benefits so they are worth mentioning though like all employer benefits including 9% retirement match, but is that worth staying? I don’t think so.

C1 Portal flights are too damn expensive

If I book from the portal can I get it price matched right after booking based on the airlines own website? I’m worried about paying almost 4x the ticket just so in greed of points…

Last week was pretty great, I averaged around 6500 steps 5 days/week. Felt relatively no pain and was getting better with stairs and walking pattern also seemed normal. And ofc then I woke up today with pain in my knee, like when I’m bending it I feel pain and I’m limping while walking as well. Going up stairs is pain free but still uncomfortable and going down is still not easy. My PT says it’s possibly because of all the activity last week and this is just fatigue and normal at this stage of recovery. I hope the PT’s right ://
