Goodwill Adjustment Letter Results Part 2 - Just a massive win that I’m humbled and grateful for.

They were super nice about this. Thanks to the good folks here on this sub pointing me in the right direction I was able to get this approved on the first try. So thankful to you guys for sharing your experiences. I’m on the journey back to a mid-high 700s score and this is a massive win.

Gold Star Costco Membership For Free ($70 back on $65 membership)

Hope everyone reading this is doing great. This post is intended for folks like me who have been on the fence about getting a costco membership due to the $65 entry fee.

Here’s the deal: Go to groupon to find the costco membership offer: $65 membership, $20 gift card back. The extension should notify you that there is a $50 gift card offer on purchases of $50 or greater when you land on this page.

Select to redeem the offer -> go to the email CapitalOne sends you about unlocking the offer -> buy the membership using the “unlock” link -> profit ???

Membership email from costco should show up within 5 minutes of buying it. CapitalOne credited me $50 within 20 business days. I used it for DoorDash credits. Costco sent me the $20 gift card after 5 business days. So, I technically made $5 through this route. Good luck everyone!

Edit: CapitalOne credited the amount in 20 business days, not 2 lol.

Weird “scheduled payments” that never happen.

Hi! For the last month or so, I’ve been getting notifications like this one about scheduled payments that I don’t recognize. These payments show up in my notifications, but NEVER happen. That’s why I haven’t been really worried about them, but they keep showing. Is this some kind of glitch? Have you seen this happen to you?

Successful Goodwill Adjustment

I had a Savor Card and a Quicksilver card that fell very delinquent during what was a nearly 2 year stretch of being in and out of the hospital. I saw on this sub that you could possibly email the CEO situation and get a goodwill adjustment. Today I received news that my request was approved. They called and left me a voicemail from an 800 number which was 800-955-1455. The customer service rep left a case number and I called back and provided all the information they requested, including my dates of hospitalization. I’m so thankful they decided to help me and I thought I’d share here for anyone in a similar situation. Here you’ll see the picture of the email that I got after my phone call confirming that they would remove the late payments.

Your favorite dining card just got a glow-up. 5x on hotels, free Hertz status, Uber One credit. Same $325 fee. The anniversary era is real 👑

Advertising disclosure: Kudos has partnered with Red Ventures for our coverage of credit card products. Kudos and Red Ventures may receive a commission from card issuers. Kudos may receive commission from card issuers. Some of the card offers that appear on Kudos are from advertisers and may impact how and where card products appear on the site. Kudos tries to include as many card companies and offers as we are aware of, including offers from issuers that don't pay us, but we may not cover all card companies or all available card offers. You don't have to use our links, but we're grateful when you do!

For anyone who holds (or is considering) the $325 dining-focused American Express® Gold Card, some quiet but meaningful updates just dropped.

Breakdown:

The permanent changes:

  • 5x on prepaid hotel bookings via the Amex travel portal (up from 2x). Big jump, but the catch is real. Prepaid portal bookings won't trigger hotel elite benefits or bonus night certs. If you have status, do the math before defaulting to the portal.
  • Complimentary Hertz Five Star status: 25% more points on rentals, space-available upgrades, and counter bypass at select locations. Free add, no fee increase. Note: Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card already has this benefit.
  • New dining credit partners: Buffalo Wild Wings and Wonder. Losing Goldbelly and Wine.com as of July 1. Here is the list of partners staying on the list:
    • The Cheesecake Factory
    • Five Guys
    • Grubhub

Limited-time anniversary stuff (act fast):

  • $96 Uber One statement credit through Oct. 30, 2026
    • Already have this membership? Get in touch with Uber support. Someone on r/amex confirmed that Uber support will refund the prorated difference on your current membership, so you can cancel and re-purchase to trigger the credit. In their case, they had 8 months left and got refunded for all of it.
  • 20% Hilton transfer bonus - this expires May 30, 2026 (heads up, that's soon)
  • Hotel Collection deals, including a free 3rd night at select properties through July 15, 2026

^(Terms apply to American Express benefits and offers. Enrollment may be required for select American Express benefits and offers. Visit americanexpress.com to learn more. Eligibility and Benefit level vary by Card. Terms, Conditions, and Limitations Apply. Please visit americanexpress.com/benefitsguide for more details. Underwritten by Amex Assurance Company.)

What didn't change: $325 annual fee, 4x at restaurants (up to $50,000 per year, then 1x) and U.S. supermarkets (up to $25,000 per year, then 1x), all other existing credits.

One thing worth flagging: the welcome offer spend requirement went up from $6k to $8k in the first 6 months, so new applicants need to plan for roughly $1,334/month to hit it.

Overall, pretty solid refresh for no fee increase. The 5x hotel rate would be a no-brainer if the portal booking caveat didn't exist, but for people without hotel loyalty status, it's basically free money.

CapitalOne Discount Extension is Worth It.

To keep it short and simple I just managed to use the Capital One online extension to order a brand new pair of Apple Airpod Pro 3’s for ONLY $161 after taxes. Needless to say, with the original purchase price being $250~ that’s a mega steal.

$400 bonus checking account expired yesterday

I didn't realize one of the promo codes expired (5/19/26). Are there any other promo codes for 400 dollars? I should've opened an account and just let it sit there until my direct deposit came in.

Accounts restricted/closed permanently

Capital One decided there was a fraud/identity theft issue. I submitted all the documents they asked for, but the restrictions were never removed, and now they are permanently closing the accounts.

I have no idea what happened or why it happened.

I use the credit cards a lot but never maxed and they are paid in full regularly ( every month )

Has anyone had this problem before?

Now I’m worried about opening a new account and running into the same issue again. I was a customer for almost 8–9 years, and honestly now I resent them for what they did.

Capitol One Savings Account Promo Cycle?

I just made a CapitalOne Savor credit card. First time going with CapitalOne, so I tried to open up a new savings account for setting up the credit card payment, and I realized that I just missed the $400 promotion...:( They do offer $250, but I was wondering if it's going to be worth to wait until a better promo gets rolled in. How long do these promotions usually last? I haven't opened up thr savings account yet; any thoughts?

Capital One Travel is worse than United and Amex

This is the flight that was offered to me. Called the number to figure out what the checked bags were included or the the price of extras. Spent close to 2 hours on the phone with multiple people saying I had to call the airline to figure out bag prices. Then they said one checked bag and one carry-on was included. Went to book, wasnt allowed online. Called again said the price was $700 more.

Was starting to think capital one was the better option for travel. Now feeling like they are pieces of shit.

The statement date calculation

I'm having a hard time trying to understand this. I have 2 cc. Capital one quicksilver and savor.

The Qs due date is usually the 10th of every month. The statement date closes by the 16th.

Savor due date is on the 12th. The statement closes on the 18th.

How do i pay my account correctly to boost my score? How would the timing work to stay ahead of the bills?

capital one offer of $400 checking bonus offer when opening an account

So cap 1 had an offer if you open an account with them you get a $400 checking bonus. By the time I was going to make my account, the offer had expired. Does anyone know if it was just a one time offer or if it will come back?

Nightmare Income Verification - Venture X

My newly approved Venture X account has been restricted due a misunderstanding of the income amount that was requested and no path to resolution has been offered.

Here is a brief timeline of the issue:

Week of May 4, 2026: As a long-standing Capital One Venture holder, I applied for the Venture X card to accommodate my heavy travel schedule. I was immediately approved.
Week of May 11, 2026: I received and activated the card. After a routine grocery transaction, the card was flagged. I promptly called customer service and uploaded the requested documents (license, proof of residence, bank statements for income verification).
May 18, 2026 (Today): I spoke with a Fraud Detection Manager for nearly an hour. They informed me that my account would be permanently closed because the deposits on my bank statements did not match the income stated on my application.

The Capital One application asks for annual income. I stated approximately $132,000 (my actual gross salary is ~$134,000). The fraud team insisted on matching this gross figure directly against the net deposits in my bank statements—entirely ignoring standard pre-tax deductions, 401(k) contributions, and federal/state taxes.

When I offered to upload standard corporate pay stubs or tax documents that clearly prove my gross salary or edit my income number on the application, the manager refused to accept them and stated there was no way to remedy the situation. They have suggested the only path forward is my capital one card will be cancelled and I have no way to change this. I have spoken to 3 Fraud Managers and they have all given me the same answer.

The fact that I have no solutions available and had a hard credit inquiry is so frustrating. I’ll take any suggestions for next steps. I did file a complaint with the CFPB.

CLI Denial of

Anyone ever see this? Sounds pretty obvious that I need to spend more on this card for it to be approved but I’ve increased spending and still been denied several times over the last 6 months with the same result. For context, my limit on this quicksilver card is $7500 after one or two CLIs over the past two years. I spend anywhere between $500-$2k on it and pay it off every month. Ive tried paying it off before statement dates as well as after to let it report, but always before the due date.

Best Strategy for Japan Flight?

I'm planning to travel to Japan for a honeymoon for 10 days and I wanted opinions on what's the best strategy for my points with Capital One. I live northeast US and have easy access to NYC, Philly, or any airport in between. Hoping to arrive in Osaka (KIX) and leave Tokyo (HND) but I can just do arrival and depart at the same if needed. I also don't mind economy if needed, it would be nice to splurge for better but that's not as important. Also the dates are flexible as well.

Would JAL, Air Canada, or British Airways be best? I know they can have different values and exchange rates. I've seen recommendations for each when searching. And the options do seem overwhelming a bit. Any advice or suggestions on where to start would be appreciated.

CLI

I have come to the conclusion that CapOne must hate me, I started with a secured QuickSilver with a deposit of $200 after 9 months it graduated it received an unrequested cli of $500(CL:700), after that I got a SavorOne Unsecured with a limit of $500. Its been 7 months since I got the SavorOne Unsecured and Ive applied for CLIs like 3 times for quicksilver and once for the SavorOne Unsecured yet every single time its denied due to low utilization, idk if these people want me to just max my cards every month because damn what more do i gotta do?

Offer in app

HI all

I’m at the 7 month mark with capital one after chapter 13 discharged last summer. I did not burn or include CapOne in the bankruptcy at all, and had no prior relationship with them. Surprisingly back in November I checked the pre approval tool on the website and Savor for “good” was offered. I accepted and got a starting limit of 4k. I love this card and have been running about 3-3.5k through it each month, paying the statement balance in full every month. I recently logged in this morning and saw that I had an offer for me, when I clicked on it, it stated that because of my great payment history, I was offered a quicksilver with 0% APR for the first 9 months. No SUB though. This offer did not state Quick Silver for “good” though. My credit has only improved since last November. It did state it was a Master card. Any way to know if this is the regular, or good? Or would it say it on the offer like my Savor did? I would like to add another card to my mix for rebuilding and the 1.5% cash back would be good for everything that the Savor doesn’t cover with the 3% but I don’t want to risk a hp on all 3 reports for a low limit possibly bucketed quick silver.

I may check the preapproval tool to see what pops up, but didn’t know if this targeted offer would be better.

Thanks!
