Very early sneak peek of my next game… drum roll please… TONK! CRICKET

About two months ago I released my first game, Wicket Empire, a cricket career sim and manager game. What I never told anyone: Wicket Empire was technically my SECOND game. I made it during a creative block on my first one… which is

TONK! Cricket.

Right now it's planned for mobile, with Steam and controller/console support coming once the full roadmap is done. So for now, here's a little sneak peek.

It won't be out until mid-to-late November, but I really wanted to get hearts pumping and show that cricket games are still well and truly alive!!!

Save the date, set a reminder, tattoo it on yourself, just get excited!

What's the one thing you'd want in a mobile cricket game? 👇

(PS: GO PLAY WICKET EMPIRE! Just search the name on Play Store)

Update to Wicket Empire: you can now be the cricketer instead of the manager

A few of you read my earlier posts about Wicket Empire, the cricket manager game I built at 17 in Windhoek. Since then the most common message has been some version of "I don't want to manage, I want to bat." So that is what the last month went on. 1.5 is out on Google Play.

Player career: you are one cricketer, not the manager.

• Pick who you are: seven types, from the Accumulator and the Wall to the Destroyer (who cannot fully block, ever), the Quick, the Spinner, the Metronome or an all-rounder. Your club, your look, your name.

• The coach picks on merit. You might start as the fourth-choice opener, and you can see exactly who is ahead of you and by how much. Play badly and you sit out.

• You bat and bowl every ball yourself. One dial for how hard you go, and the odds are shown before each ball: your chance of getting out at that setting and the strike rate you'd expect. The moment you're out you get your innings: the score, where the runs went, a rating, and whether you did what the coach asked.

• XP into skills with ranks, a long board of career goals (most of them a career's work), records that build season on season, and your club's cup ties in the cup's own format.

• Weekly challenge: every Monday a new brief, the same for everyone, five seasons to hit a target. One career for the week, your real careers untouched. Share the card when it's done.

The manager side is still there (auctions against seven AI owners, club, T20 franchise and country in one career). You pick which life you want when you start.

Free, offline, no energy timers, nothing to buy to win. Optional rewarded ads, one short ad at an innings break or the end of a season, never mid-over.

Just search Wicket Empire on google play.

Honest caveats: player names are fictional (every one is editable, and name packs import), and it is one person. I found a bug an hour before this post while taking the store screenshots, which tells you how testing goes when it's just you. Tell me what's broken. That is how every update so far has happened.

Thank you for all the support!!!

(EDIT) So I will no longer post on here as marketing a game should come from how good it is not promoting on random reddits, but I just wanted to let everyone know, I am committed to improving this game until it is worthy of standing among the top. Thank you!!

Testing a Cricket Management MOBILE GAME

Guys I'm sorry I know I said I wouldn't post on here for a while but I am so excited that an actual youtuber picked up my game and played it. It gives me so much joy that he took time out his day to make a video about it.

Seriously this time I'm done posting here because this is excessive spam and self promotion in my opinion, again so sorry just genuinely excited!!

Cricket had no proper GM game on mobile, so I built one at 17. Wicket Empire: auctions against AI owners, a board that sacks you, club + franchise + country in one career. Released, free, Android.

Hi GM Games. First, an apology: I cross posted a thread here two days ago without writing a word for this community, and the mods were right to pull it. This is the proper version.

I'm 17, from Windhoek in Namibia. Football has FM, baseball has OOTP, and cricket on Android has games with energy timers and ad-gated training. The management side I wanted didn't exist, so over the last two months I built it. Version 1.3.2, public on Google Play since 3 September, no beta

One more thing, because it came up elsewhere: the game isn't AI-generated. The mods of another cricket subreddit assumed it was and banned and berated me over a post, so I'll say it plainly here. I wrote the game myself over the last two months; the website and a couple of my videos used AI tools, the game didn't.

What's in it, in GM terms:

• Live player auctions against 7 AI owners. Each owner values a player by his own squad holes and purse, so bidding wars happen to you and to him. Power bids, rival personas, marquee lots.

• A board with confidence, objectives and a memory. Every board in the game will sack you eventually. When they do, the phone still rings: club, T20 franchise and national jobs can all be held at once if you earn the calls.

• Ball-by-ball matches where you set bowler, field pressure and batting intent every delivery, with a pressure model in chases (a batter needing 16 off the last over doesn't play the same shot as one cruising at 40 for none). Highlights mode and delegation when you only want the season.

• Real records for every player in the world: averages, strike rates, best figures, wagon wheels of where they score. Retirements, regens, 50-year careers.

• No timers, no rating caps, nothing to buy to win. Optional rewarded ads and one short ad at an innings break, never mid-over.

Honest caveats: names are fictional, but every one is editable and name packs export and import. It's one person, so there are bugs, and every update so far has come from someone reporting one.

I'd rather be roasted by GM people than praised by anyone else. What would you want from a cricket GM game that this doesn't do?

Thank you for 1.5k views on my last post. I never actually showed the game. Wicket Empire.

Last time I posted about building a cricket manager game, way more of you read it than I expected (1.5k views, more than anything I've ever posted).

Then I realized I never actually showed the game.

(Also again this wasn't made by ai and I'm just saying that cause I was handled very meanly by another subreddits mods. Website and a few videos i made use ai though.)

So, screenshots.

What you're looking at, in order:

  1. The match screen. Every ball is yours: bowler, field pressure, batting intent. Pitch, weather and scoreboard pressure change what happens.

  2. The auction. Seven AI owners with their own purses and squad holes, so bidding wars happen.

3 and 4. Club, a T20 franchise and your country at the same time also the WC.

  1. Your Manager Creator

  2. The Jobs Menu

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wicketempire.wicketmanager

It's three days old and rough in places. Tell me what's broken. That's how every update so far has happened. Thank you all so much!! Also I have a Youtube Channel For SomeDEV LOGS. Muppet Dev.

I'm committed to improving this game until it knocks every single mobile manager game out the park.

Also this will be my last post here for a while don't wanna get banned for excessive promotion.
