Went In for Blue, left with Burgundy

Finally added a Tudor Black Bay 58 to the collection. I walked into the AD fully expecting to leave with the Blue. Like a lot of people, I'd spent months looking at photos, reviews, and videos and was convinced that was the one. Then I tried on the Burgundy. The gilt accents, the warmth of the bezel, and the overall vintage feel just clicked in a way the Blue didn't. It felt a little more unique and had a lot more personality on the wrist than I was expecting. It's a good reminder that no amount of online research can replace seeing a watch in person. Went in for the Blue. Left with the Burgundy. Absolutely no regrets.

40+ / ~6 months into collecting — looking for honest feedback
Been collecting for about 6 months, but coming at this later in life (40+), so I’m trying to be deliberate rather than rush through the hobby.
I’m not chasing hype or brand ladders — more focused on role, wearability, and making sure watches don’t clash stylistically. A couple are work‑only, one is sentimental, and the rest are worn intentionally.
Current collection (already owned):
Tudor Royal (integrated bracelet),
Tissot PRX Quartz (work watch),
Citizen Promaster Titanium Ecozilla,
Frédérique Constant automatic,
Seiko Presage (open‑heart),
Orient dress watch,
“Under the Sun” (NZ brand, quartz, sentimental),
What I eventually plan to add (not rushing):
A mechanical chronograph (leaning Hamilton Intra‑Matic),
A clean, modern tool watch (Sinn 556‑type),
One statement Rolex down the line (likely Submariner Date, not now),
Would love feedback on balance, overlap, and long‑term direction — especially from people who’ve trimmed or refined collections over time. Not looking to flip or optimise, just genuinely curious to hear outside perspectives.
Cheers.
