I Want to Get Into Microscopy!

I believe that I used the correct flair for this, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I have always been interested in the microscopic world and am now wanting to truly get into it. I really want a microscope, but I have no idea where to start! I've used them at school before, but honestly don't know much about them. If anyone could recommend me a high(ish) quality microscope that's fairly beginner friendly, I'd really appreciate it!

If anyone has any tips on microscopy in general, maybe things that you wish you knew before getting into it, I'd love to hear those as well! Thank you to anyone who replies! :)

I (19M) don’t know how to comfort my boyfriend (20M). How do I go about comforting him differently?

My boyfriend and I have different ways of needing comfort and calming down. I try to reframe negative situations and find the good in things (e.g., I spilled something in my car but at least now the car is clean because I had to clean up the spill.) I also like solutions, like “the gym is closed today and I planned on going today, but that’s okay. I have time to go tomorrow.”

My boyfriend on the other hand just gets more upset when I try to give him this type of comfort. Even just saying “it’ll be okay”can upset him even more. He’ll sometimes be like “no, it’s not okay and it won’t be okay. This is such a shitty situation and now my day is ruined.”

I feel like it’s also important to state that I’m pretty sure that he’s autistic. Anytime anything goes wrong, he completely shuts down. I don’t know how to help him during these times. Reframing the negative situation and giving solutions only makes him more upset most of the time.

Does anyone have any advice on other ways to comfort him and try to get him out of his shut-downs?
