This was our 2nd date. It was ok. Work-related talk was SO heavy, and I (f21) didn't understand half of what he (m23) was talking about. Mostly because he had a cigarette in his mouth the whole time and kept noisily slurping white monster. but I'm a curious person and am trying to learn. He moved from a super hick town to a larger city (where I'm from), so most of high school was focused on trade classes and smashing cases of natty. He mentioned that this was the reason he picked the field, the ability to go to work hungover every day and somehow still keep a job. He said employers/co-workers here (big city) are frequently surprised by his skill level and alcohol tolerance, considering his age and lack of advanced education. (He's been welding since he was 5, didn't graduate high school, no trade schooling outside of his high school program.)

He sent me this pic from work today. So now I have to ask, is he good?

Side note: He was humble in describing his skill and work. He's passionate about it and was "nerding out” as he talked about it. I found it endearing, as I tend to do the same when I talk about my work.

I woke up early squirrelly one morning a couple summers ago to catch sunrise on the beach. I got to Sullivans island about 530 AM and I just could not find a good spot. The best angle on the sunrise had a bunch of unsightly houses and they just destroyed the shot. As the sun came up, it was clear it was gonna be incredible, but I could not for the life of me find a framing without those stupid houses ruining everything. Finally as I was walking down the beach I spotted this rock jetty. When I crouched down, the jetty conveniently obscured all the messy, ugly houses. Ive got this pic and more mostly SC but also NC, GA and random other hiking spots on my insta @walkstoomuch

My region has seen what feels like an unusually long period of raininess and clouds over the last three weeks. It's been great because we are in a pretty bad drought, but I can't remember anything similar in my lifetime. Ive seen 3 day periods of rain, and maybe a 7 day stretch once or twice but this has been nearly three weeks where every single day the radar looks like this screen shot. It has rained at least a little bit almost every day. It has been gray and overcast. The air is super thick and sticky.

What causes this pattern to emerge and what is keeping it in place for so long?
