Trying to understand my 2023 Crosstrek rollover—has anyone had a similar experience?

I'm hoping to hear from other Subaru owners who may have experienced something similar.

I was involved in a single-vehicle rollover in my 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Sport AWD (approximately 19,000 miles). Thankfully, I was wearing my seat belt and walked away without any serious injuries, although the vehicle was declared a total loss.

The accident happened in the morning on a dry road. I was driving on a narrow street with a parked SUV on my side of the road. My speed is probably b/w 20-30 mph. An oncoming vehicle had just passed, and I remember being concerned about contacting the parked SUV. I believe I may have steered left while trying to give it more clearance. The next thing I knew, my Crosstrek rolled over and came to rest on the driver's side. All of the airbags deployed, and Starlink automatically contacted me and helped dispatch the police and an ambulance. A few pedestrians came over and helped me walk out through the rear hatch. The parked SUV sustained only very minor scratches, but my vehicle was declared a total loss.

I'm not assuming there was a vehicle defect or blaming Subaru. In fact, I'm very grateful that the vehicle protected me. I believe the airbags and the integrity of the passenger compartment helped prevent more serious injuries. I really loved this car and was saddened to lose it. During the time I owned it, I had never experienced any mechanical problems. I am just puzzled by the rollover, and simply trying to learn whether anyone else has experienced a similar type of accident.

If you've had a similar experience with a Crosstrek, Forester, Outback, or another Subaru SUV, I'd really appreciate hearing:

  • Model year and trim
  • Approximate speed
  • Road and weather conditions
  • What happened immediately before the rollover
  • Whether Subaru inspected the vehicle or downloaded the Event Data Recorder (EDR) data
  • Whether Subaru opened a customer care case
  • Whether you ever learned what contributed to the crash

Thank you in advance. I'm genuinely trying to better understand the circumstances surrounding my accident, and I appreciate any experiences you're willing to share.
