I nearly shat myself when I found a stack of used audio gear in the back of the store. When I asked about them the owner said they don't work. So I grabbed three I thought I could fix, and at a minimum I'll get some nice old cartridges. They all worked to some degree, and I sold the Philips to a collector for $200 a few days later, and then the Microcord 50H for $300 a week later. I couldn't get the Dual fixed so I donated it to my Turntable Technician for karma, he helps me with anything I bring in for free. Pretty good score if I don't say myself.
Thrifted this awhile back not knowing anything about the Monks later learning that it was a dud in the States, but gold in Canada. Canucks know their punk.
Grabbed this beauty for the grills, and some tinkering they only had the one. Titanium super tweeter, 2 horn tweeters, 2 squawkers, and the 12" woofer. Cleaned the pots, and I'm floored how awesome it sounds.
My speaker technician who I befriended about 5yrs ago has been offering me to buy these for the last year, but over the same time we started bartering, and he really wanted to help me with my system. We each have a substantial collection of speakers, and he found need for the 15H-1drivers in the L20Ts, and I finally caved in. Best part is we switched out the L80s tweeters for the L20s 035Ti Titanium tweeters. I'm gonna help with some unfinished flooring, and keep the giddy feeling for quite a while.

Broke out the Brothers while cooking chili, and as the hours passed I remembered I got a live video of them in Gainesville Florida 1979 to fill in between record flips. Such a tight band I wish I was there in the early days. Got to see Greg a few months before he died, and met Dickie Betts, but he refused to acknowledge us because he's Dickie.
Local CL purchase for $50. I anticipated a quick cleaning and just flip it for $100, but to my surprise this old unit really sings. @15 watts/ch I'm not gonna shake the walls yet the sound is rich and clean all the way across the dial. I'm keeping it, and it looks fantastic.
I noticed a brown wooden box on the bottom of a pile of plastic junk so I dug it out, and it was a Sansui in dusty but unbroken condition. I was about to offer $40, but the kind lady quickly said $10. After a little cleaning it passed the dim bulb test, and all lights lit up. It has the original 1040 boards with the crappy transistors, and as such no sound. Should I update to the newer board or rebuild kit the old 1040s?
I just picked this up at a local flea market for $20, and would love some advice before I plug it in. I have a Dim-bulb tester, but this is my first Tube audio gear. Thanks.
This was advised by my speaker technician because I want the ability to listen through 4 speakers simultaneously for a better fuller sound. I've already replaced 1 stk powerpack, and stressed the system afterwards by playing through A and B together. The gear; Pioneer SX-780 into A - JBL L20T and B - Advent 25th Anniversary Edition. A=5.7ohms B=7.1ohms. Thanks everyone.
Been avoiding the Goodwill for a few months because of their business model changes, but was having an internal disagreement, and convinced myself I'll just run through, but as I was standing there someone brought out a new box of records.
I picked up all of these great speakers in the last few months, and all work excellent, and as intended. $80 in total for all 3 pairs, each pair has their own unique sound with the Nova 6s being very efficient, and surprisingly loud.
Thrifted this dirty TT, and to my surprise the Fisher logo is molded into the plug making me smile. Nice job Fisher, very classy.
Here's my contribution to International Jazz Day. "Bossa Nova" or a new flair, a new way of doing things, a new knack started in 1959 spread around the world quickly bringing lively music with a joyous message, and a bright, bold beat.
