The Bingley Darcy relationships

Thinking about the Darcy and Bingley relationship dynamic.
Presumably they met at school or university, though Bingley seems younger and less mature.
Bingley is also technically far beneath Darcy socially, coming from Trade, but is hugely wealthy in his own right. He can afford to rent a sizeable estate just for fun.
What does the rest of the family think of this unequal friendship? And how solid is it?
Darcy patronises Bingley, taking responsibility for his love life, but unlike Miss Bingley he doesn’t seem to be grooming his friend as a match for his underage sister, either. Temperamentally they seem very different. Colonel Fitzwilliam seems a more suitable friend.
Miss Bingley seems to think she is a superior match for Darcy. But Jane and Lizzie, however destitute, are still from Old Money. Darcy doesn’t need to marry money. Why is he hanging out with these social climbers?

Tax document but employer went out of business

As above. After months of asking we despair of getting my partner’s tax document for 2025 from a company that went out of business.

How do I fill out our tax return? Can the tax office get the data from their own records? The job was legitimate, taxes and contributions were paid - we just don’t have the exact numbers.

Maturin’s connections

When Stephen meets Jack he is apparently destitute and friendless.
But in the later books he seems to have friends in every port, he is forever meeting wealthy relatives, medical & scientific acquaintances, bankers, explorers, revolutionaries. conspirators and agents.
It seems to me he had any number of friends to fall back on.
