Also, I’m old. So taking pictures to help me remember where all the things fit 🤣

A lot has changed since last posting my manga collection almost 2 years ago. I took my office desk out and added 3 more bookshelves. I also hit 2000 volumes and was not happy with it. Not having any attachment to almost every 3rd series on my shelf was a source of discontentment. It took 2-3 months of pep talking myself, but ultimately, decided to curate. I cut deep and dipped below 1500. I’ve sold over 700 volumes since last May, with just under 100 more listed to part ways with. I’ve hit 2000 again and am now very much more wildly obsessed with my collection!

My current read percentage is ~66%. So a 2:1 read vs unread ratio. That percentage took a double dip hit between the selling off 1/3 of my collection over the last year and using those funds to restock it with new series during Crunchyroll’s warehouse sales and holiday sales. Else it would be in the 90s%. Another 10% I’ve watched as anime, so I know I will love revisiting in manga form (TAMB, Frieren, FT, SDS, etc etc). Would love to get back into the 80% by end of the year! 🤞🏻 Just in time for holiday sales 🪦

Organization is all over the place. My first 2 shelves are nostalgic escapes; series a younger me loved. Not necessarily my favorites anymore, but my favorite shelves to stop and stare at. My inner kid is happy 🥹 The last 2.5 shelves are the gays 🏳️‍🌈 Everything else in the middle is mostly-ish-ness-kinda in alphabetical order while not trying to break series onto multiple shelves. Tetris 😵‍💫 Maybe I’ll get spicy and try to split out by size and publisher in the new place… TBD.

There are a couple upside volumes. Those are series I’ve started and have had new releases trickle in for. It’s the only way I can remember what’s what. More old man problems 🤪

Reading at least an hour before bed was a Jan 2023 Resolution my husband and I started together. Which lead to a big book boom 🤣 His historical / political reads downstairs. My manga room. My office with fantasy / sci fi. A kitchen full of cookbooks we need to be wayyyy more adventurous with in recipe experimentations. It has slowly been turning our home into an entire library of a home with books in nearly every room. Of which, we both are wildly obsessed with. But my manga room is still my favorite🤘🏻

TLDR : I’m moving. Sold over 700. Hit 2000 manga volumes, again. ~66% read.

My home manga library! One last look before moving it all across the country.

Years of collecting, but all packaged away in a single weekend 🥹 It will take 5 days of driving, but excited to get there and VERY excited to reorganize everything!

There are books in almost every room of the house, but my manga room is my favorite.

My husband has his political / historical / “books with words” as he likes to call them downstairs 🤣 I’ve my fantasy / sci fi in my office. A silly amount of cookbooks in the kitchen that we need to be more adventurous with recipe experimentation. Books everywhere.

January 2023, it was our New Year’s resolution to start going to bed an hour early and reading to disconnect from the day and the world. It’s something we both love doing together and is slowly turning our home into a library 😍 Obsessed.

My May Mountain of Manga Reads

The Big O was hands down my favorite read for the month. It’s got that Batman meets Gundam vibe. Scratches that Cartoon Network nostalgia so good.

My favorite ongoing reads? One Punch Man, Dear Door, and Wet Sand. Always a good time getting current with those.

Soul Eater was an anime I watched during COVID because I got into Fire Force. Great to finally catch up on the ending of that. Soul Eater Not surprised me with how much I enjoyed it.

Finally finished JJK. Definitely enjoyed the first half more than the last half.

Soloist in a Cage was neat surprise! I wish it was just a coupleeeeeee volumes longer.

Starting June strong with Toriko! It’s already got me laughing out loud with volume 1, so really looking forward to the rest of the series! 🤘🏻

Me lying to myself as I walk into a used bookstore. “They *probably* won’t even have anything I’m interested in...” … 2 hrs later of combing through every bookshelf 🤣

It was another busy month! A little less reading than I wanted with starting to pack for moving, work being crazy, and getting back into a routinely exercising schedule. Balancing life, or rather rebalancing. A good catch up month with a bit of this and that.

Terra Formars… Animorphs meets The Expanse meets Men in Black meets Independence Day. The story and fighting were a little unbalanced, but I feel like the second arc is ramping up really nicely with a better balance.

Radio Storm / Semantic Error were very good too. Sci Fi vs the College life read, two different sides of the dice that I equally enjoyed. Probably liked Radio Storm better for the sci-fi / fantasy elements.

The new One Punch volumes were my favorite reads. This series is so funny and King makes me laugh out loud. His panels are gold.

55 volumes read! Still going story for 2026’s goal of a manga a day 🤘🏻

This is my little gremlin, Solar. If I am reading a manga, she is snoring on my lap. Saw this pug manga in a Seven Seas newsletter and being a pug owner, absolutely had to have it!
