Need a Reality Check

Guys, I need you to be really honest with me. I have a huge amount of mastery on Kindred, but despite that, I’m hardstuck Plat. Of course, there are a lot of macro mistakes that I make, but I’m here to ask for your opinion on my micro, because I’m honestly starting to think I’m just bad as fuck mechanically (with fucking 1.3M mastery).

Do you guys also struggle against tanks? Because my win rate must be like 10% whenever there’s a tank on the enemy team. I’m talking about champions like fucking Nasus (my number one problem), Cho’Gath, Yorick, and even Sejuani is starting to beat me regularly.

Isn’t Kindred supposed to be a tank melter? Is it really supposed to be this hard to play against these champions? To the point where, if there’s a Nasus on the enemy team, I already know I’m going to be useless all game. He just slows me and Qs me, and in my eyes, there’s just no counterplay.

It’s such a shame to have this much mastery and still suck. I’m honestly thinking about just finding another champion. If you want to suggest someone, go ahead.

Thanks!

First time owner - training questions

I recently adopted a 5-month-old mixed-breed puppy (possibly part Schnauzer) from a kennel. She has been with me for just one week now. I have two questions regarding training.

  1. Low food motivation / difficulty training

My puppy doesn’t seem very interested in food, which is making training quite difficult. I’ve tried training her both before meals and after walks, but she often just doesn’t seem to care.

For example, I tried teaching her to wait while I put food in her bowl. I gently hold the leash to prevent her from going in, but at the slightest pressure she just lies down like “okay, I give up.” Then when I release her and say “come” or “eat,” she often just loses interest.

Another example: when I try to get her to follow my hand with treats, she will follow it briefly, but if I move it even a small distance (like 10 cm), she just disengages and goes off to sniff something else.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this normal for a puppy of this age and background? Any advice would be appreciated.

  1. Preventing her from running out the gate

She has free access to the garden, and people are constantly entering and leaving the house. The most important thing I need her to learn is not to run outside when the gate opens.

This is a serious safety issue, but I’m not sure if it’s realistic to expect a dog to control that kind of impulse yet. If it is possible, where should I start training this?

Thanks in advance. I’m considering enrolling her in a dog training school, but if possible I’d like to try to work on it myself first to save money.

Is my lifestyle compatible with dog ownership?

I'm thinking about getting a dog. I feel like I'm at a point in my life where having a dog could be a great addition, but there are a few things that concern me. I'll explain my situation (which is a bit unusual), and I'd appreciate hearing from people who are experienced with dogs, training, or dog ownership in general.

I'm 25 years old, I take 2–3 walks a day, and I work from home full-time, so I don't need to go to an office.

My living situation is a little complicated. I split my time between my parents' house and my own house. The two properties are next to each other, but they are separate homes. I'm not living full-time in my own house yet because my girlfriend and I aren't ready to move out of our parents' homes permanently.

Typically, I sleep in my own house 3 nights a week and at my parents' house the other 4 nights. I work from my personal home always, I spend there more than 8 hours a day. The dog would stay in my house because my parents don't want a dog in theirs.

My house has two floors, but they are completely separated (you can't move between them from inside). The ground floor is where my office is, and that's where the dog would spend most of the day with me while I work. There's also a 100 m² garden.

The upper floor is very small and only has a small kitchen and bedroom. Even when I sleep there, I wouldn't really want the dog sleeping in that area. I also have a small unused structure in the garden that I had considered converting into a dog room/shelter, with a dog door so the dog could go in and out freely.

Please respect my personal situation. I'm not looking for judgment about my lifestyle, I'm simply trying to understand whether this setup would be a deal-breaker for owning a dog, especially considering that the dog would not sleep indoors with me every night.

I'd really appreciate opinions from experienced dog owners, trainers, or professionals. Thanks in advance.

Thinking about getting a schnauzer

Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about getting a Schnauzer. From all the research I've done, it seems to be the breed that checks the most boxes for me. However, I can't deny that it's taking me some time to get used to their appearance.

The Standard Schnauzer seems to be the size that makes the most sense for my lifestyle, so I have two questions:

  1. Do all-black Standard Schnauzers exist (just like Giant Schnauzers)?

  2. Is it possible to keep a Schnauzer without the beard and eyebrows (similar to how they look when they're puppies)?

Thanks! Also, any tips or information that you think might be important for me to know while making this decision would be greatly appreciated.

Switching from arch to fedora

I've been using Arch for quite some time now, and it's time to move on. I'm looking for something more reliable, and Fedora seems to fit my needs.

The thing is that I use Noctalia + Hyprland, and I want to keep it that way on Fedora. So what do you guys think is the best option?

Fedora Workstation and then install Hyprland + Noctalia. It gives gnome as a fallback option and saves time configuring certain things, but at the same time I will end up with redundant apps and things that I don't use.

Use Fedora Everything and do a minimal installation, similar to Arch, and then install Hyprland + Noctalia. This way I only have what I need, and everything is tailored to my liking.

Other options?

Thanks in advance!
