Zeekr make Waymo taxis - I didn't know that!
Two interesting aspects of this article for me:
- Zeekr make Waymo taxis (surprise!)
- 3200 vehicles going to Waymo say something about the faith Waymo has in Zeekr (confidence)

Two interesting aspects of this article for me:
Having test driven a lot of EVs we have landed, like many, on the 7x. That said, we haven't pulled the trigger. The reason is that we don't understand the dealer strategy.
Buying a car is about the car and the service infrastructure behind it. We get some confidence of Zeekr being a Geely brand but don't understand why, unlike Polestar, Volvo, and Geely, why Zeekr is not leveraging the infrastructure of its Geely stable mates. And this discomfort is exacerbated by the many disappointing stories of buying and delivery we read of on Reddit and elsewhere where issues related to "just starting out" and disjointed supply chains are part of the problem, coupled with our own experiences of "Pop-Up" sales offices.
Does anyone know what the Zeekr strategy is? Is there a tangible plan for dealer and service agent longevity and commitment? Is it just us who can't see it? And does anyone know why Zeekr doesn't share the Geely stable?
Thank you
I know some people in this forum like to keep up with EV news beyond our borders. These two articles (well, one article, one podcast) were in the latest PWC newsletter and, given its target market, I found that interesting alone. To me these add evidence to the tipping point many of us believe is here

I've been wondering about EV longevity and the notion of battery life in particular. The scenario I'm considering is that a battery's life has reached a point where degradation has reduced efficiency such that the cost/benefit becomes untenable (say, after 15 years).
Currently, replacement batteries are ballpark $15,000. And battery tech is changing very rapidly.
So, I'm wondering, after 15 years of life, where does that leave today's EV?
I have long since put range anxiety behind me only to be replaced by spare wheel anxiety
I'm not sure what EV manufacturers think is so special about a vehicle being electric that justifies excluding a spare wheel from their standard equipment.
I've had two flat tyre instances this year where a 'goop' repair kit was not an option
Australian roads, even in the city (where scattered nails and screws abound) necessitate a spare. This is even more essential for cars designed to travel off road (Trailseeker for example)
I reckon it's high time for a rethink
Hello, as a prospective buyer I have a few questions that I hope this community may be able to help with.
I have read a review of the 7x that suggests the AC is weak. I live in Qld where an AC in summer is important. What are current owners of the 7x thoughts on the adequacy of the AC?
I used Compare the Market to try and et a sense of insurance premiums but the result was zero providers offering a quote. What have been your experiences? Which company have you found that provides the cover you want?
Is there a 7x Owner's Manual in PDF form? If so, where can I download it?
More generally, has there been any information about the Chinese 2026 900v models potential release in Australia?
Thanks very much!
This from Axios gives an insight into the EV charger network
https://www.axios.com/2026/07/08/ev-road-trip-2026-charging
(Off topic: It also points to the convenience of toilets at service stations!)
I see there is a 2026 XPENG G6 being delivered soon. I mentioned this to a colleague who said "there's a back-story" that I should consider before adding it to my short-list.
If so, can someone fill me in, please?
We are in the market for our first EV and, aside from price and shape, tryong to build a list of criteria that are important as an EV owner. Below is our first attempt but I'm sure, because we lack real-world exerience, that we've missed stuff.
I'd be grateful for input from owners who have had "oh, I wish I'd thought of that" experiences
Thanks very much

I'm new to Linux and Ubuntu and want to structure a program of self-learning. The Academy structure looks like a good start but it's somewhat light on learning resources.
Can anyone recommend a good learning resource aligned with the Terminal and Desktop exams?
Thanks in advance
I've been testing Ubuntu for the past month or so (and 26.04 since its release) with tests based on my work, academic, and personal workflows. That workflow can be posed as a question; "can Ubuntu replace Windows for me?"
So far the answer is no.
One missing piece is backup. Now, I could easily be missing something and I'm open to ideas, so far though achieving a solid backup strategy involves a piecemeal approach to applications and human (non-automated) intervention.
That's different for larger enterprises with in-house IT and big budgets. For small businesses, though, I was unable to find a single backup approach that would give me bare metal, system changes, and user/home directory backups. I can find tools to do each of these well, but none that did all three.
By contrast, there is a plethora that meet this backup strategy objective for Windows (thanks to VSS and a large base I'm guessing).
Am I missing something?
Is there a way to check the size of a folder on pCloud?
Thanks
I've recently started using Ubuntu (26.04) and noticed two things with the OpenComm and the USB-C dongle and wondered if Shokz has a solution?
The first is that, when watching a YouTube video I have to hit the volume up button on the Shokz (as the UI volume is full blast) to hear the audio. When I pause I have to hit the volume up button again as the volume has reverted back to very low (even though the UI volume is max)
The second is that Shokz send a 'shutdown' message to Ubuntu - a problem noted here (https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxhardware/comments/1542e1r/comment/kc2yj9y/). As this problem was discussed 3 yrs ago and a new dongle has been released since I wonder if this has been fixed? And, if not, does Shokz know about it?
In the process of making the switch to Ubuntu Desktop which involves a lot of learning how Ubuntu works. One thing that has struck me is the different approaches and options available for backing up these alternate OS
On Windows I use Macrium Refresh which give me one solution for various backup methods including a bare metal restore. This is, of course, enabled by Windows VSS
Linux (and Ubuntu therefore) doesn't look to have a VSS like service. In exploring how people go about backing up their Desktop the approach seems to involve a number of different tools (e.g. a combination of Clonezilla, Timeshift, Déjà vu).
In case I'm missing the trees due to the forest, is there a single approach akin to Reflect for Ubuntu?
I'm a new client and seeding (uploading) data for the first time. I noticed uploads had been stuck for a few hours and, suspecting internet related issues, did some investigation. When that didn't yield anything I rebooted ... Uploads are now continuing.
I was wondering how pCloud uploads to their servers? What Windows services are used? What can I check to see if it's client side that's causing the problem? How to restart pCloud without a reboot (do I just quit the tray icon or is there more)?
Thanks for the help
There are two versions of pCloud Drive for Windows on their download site. According to the file names the full ver is 5.1.0 and the beta, weirdly, 5.0.13. Two questions:
Are the version numbers correct?
How do I know what is contained within the beta (i.e. what are the changes or additions)?
Thanks very much
