Why 7x over Y

Genuine question for someone that was about to pull the trigger on a Model Y before hearing about the Zeekr 7x. I’m considering the base model or LR in both. The 800v architecture isn’t of huge benefit to me and I don’t place it high on my criteria. I do like the cabins and exterior of both, albeit a different approach they have adopted. For these two models (7x and Y) specifically, what does the 7x do better?

App issues

Has anyone encountered an issue when sharing their 7x with another driver? Whenever my partner tries to share the car with me, I open my app and accept the share and then I get the pin notification popping up continuously. It's popping up so fast over and over again that I can't actually click anything or set a pin. Any workarounds?

I'm using a Samsung phone if that makes any difference.

NL timeline

Hi all,

my NL company ordered a 7xp in mid May and Zeekr essendon estimated my car will arrive in September delivery, doesn't really tell me exactly when and my NL been ignoring me. If you gone through NL can you shine the light on how it went for you? When should i hear from my NL about the car delivery? How long did it take you to pick up your car from delivery date?

Zeekr 7X fridge remote control

Hello, I'm curious about the fridge aftermarket fit in the European version.

Is it possible to control it from a remote app?

If not, how does the timer behave, it will cool even when the car is locked?

Any more hands-on operation would be great insight! I'm strongly considering it as number one accessories.

Best deal you've gotten for a 7X?

Hi all.

My wife and I are looking at getting a 7X and were just wondering if anyone's managed to get any sort of extra deal when purchasing the car? I suspect there probably won't be much, if anything, on the price that they can do, but has anyone got any goodies added to it? Free items, chargers, tinting/paint protection etc? We haven't dealt with a car dealer in a very long time and given how well they're selling, I'm not sure if we'll be able to get anything, but I thought I'd ask just in case there were some success stories I could try use for our new car!

TIA!

Regen and thus braking differs based on acceleration mode?

Hi all.

First time poster in the group and very recent owner.

I was getting to know the car today and was curious to see how the car manages regen. As in, which motor in my AWD performance is recovering power when slowing down.

What i found in my early testing is that the acceleration mode determines the regen power too. If you are in standard or comfort acceleration, the regen will be engaged for the rear motor only, as is the acceleration.

But if you put the mode into sport, then both motors are engaged for acceleration AND regen.

This results in a (possibly placebo) increase in deceleration as well, as both motors are braking the car in OPD mode.

I havent seen this particular aspect discussed in the group before (have been lurking for 5 months or so) so thought I should put it out there.

Can anyone else confirm my finding here? Happy for you guys to walk me out of the room if this is standard knowledge too, but seeing all the complaints about not enough regen, makes me think this post might strike a chord with people.

Thanks!

Edit: to add, I came to these findings by driving the car while observing the energy management screen in the settings. In comfort, the front motor hardly engages for normal or heavier than normal acceleration. In standard, the front motor engages just prior to stopping.

This leads to me having more confidence that a stronger regen mode is possible via software update

Easy Entry - Seat Positioning

Hi brains trust...

I've had my 7x for about 3 months now but noticed last night that the east entry/seat movement is no longer working - at exit or entry.

I've tried the brake pedal, checked the user profile is mine, and searched in the settings to see if it had toggled off during a software update but I can't even find that anymore.

Is anybody else having this problem?

2026 Zeekr X RWD experience

Some notes on purchasing a 2026 Zeekr X from preorder to delivery, for anyone on the fence. It’s a bit of a rant I’m afraid, but hopefully my experience will be useful knowledge for some of you.

The sales process was EXCRUCIATING. I have never in my life had to work so hard to give someone $50k. Like honestly, wtf. It’s not ok. I cannot in any way or form recommend Zeekr City in Sydney to anyone. I must’ve called them in excess of 50 times over the past few months - not because I have 50 annoying questions, but because our sales guy simply wouldn’t call me back. He also tried to make us wait for the second shipment to arrive with some bullshit lie, despite promising us a car from the first shipment when we placed the order. When we didn’t accept, a car was magically made available to us from the first shipment and I can only imagine someone else who was more susceptible to his lies is now still waiting.

Trying to get a trade-in valuation was equally frustrating, took 6 weeks waiting and a good 8 hours or my time I’ll never get back (eventually resulting in a trade-in offer that was HALF of what we received from Hyundai a month earlier).

We’re also still waiting on the charging cable and wall charger, so unfortunately there will be more calls in the future before I can wash my hands of this experience. The consolation price for the missing wall charger and cable was a $100 Evie voucher, which took 8 calls over 8 days to be emailed out.

The car itself is good for what it is - a more premium experience than it should be at the price we got it for (launch promotion with a discount of on-road costs). But once you drive it there are many tell-tale signs of it being a more budget car. I see many posts here trash talking more expensive EVs in favour of the cheaper Chinese brands and models, and my thoughts on this is that the devil is in the details. Our second car is a Volvo, and while I have a number of issues with that as well (mainly software related) the build quality and attention to detail is where the money goes - it’s not just brand positioning. It’s the difference between a holistically designed experience compared to one that focuses on surface level bells and whistles without cohesion.

One example which I find fascinating is the comparison of headlights between the two. The Volvo have seamless, smooth low beams and high beams designed for left hand drive. The Zeekr has a very distinct cut-off on the low beams, essentially forming a step ladder of light (with the taller step towards the side of the road). What’s interesting is that the high beams keep this step ladder and adds another layer above it with a pretty significant shadow band between the two. That means when you’re driving at night, you’re constantly pushing this shadow band ahead of you and it’s pretty weird and distracting. I can only assume it’s a form over function decision, and a poor one at that.

Another example of form over function is the decision to have the whole dashboard below the windscreen dappled. Sure it may look cool at a glance, but the shadow and light of the indented pattern reflects up at the windscreen in a very strong way making daytime driving a bit like having a bathroom privacy window as your windscreen. Again, very distracting and unnecessarily unsafe.

Other thoughts on the Zeekr that I haven’t seen discussed much here that would be worth knowing for anyone interested is that it’s pushing a phone key, especially for a second driver (only one physical key is included). Expect to either wait 10 seconds before it unlocks using a phone key, or opening up the app and clicking the unlock button, and hope you never have to make a quick getaway. Compared to the instant RFID of a car fob, it takes a while to get used to (and to be honest, I don’t understand why I should have to).

The regenerative braking is extremely soft, even on the hardest setting. You will not be doing any one pedal driving in this car.

On the software side, there are a slew of glitches that have become part and parcel of any modern car experience regardless of brand. Things like not recognising the correct profile and not automatically connecting to bluetooth are current pet peeves. Using Apple Car Play becomes a task of manually connecting every time we get in the car.

One good thing, which was actually a selling point for us, is the ability to set up a number of shortcut buttons in the interface which means turning off the persistent alerts (speeding, attention etc) is remarkably easy compared to most other modern cars we’ve driven.

Overall the UI is actually decent and reasonably intuitive. I’m not entirely sure why the default home screen is a picture of the car - completely useless information when driving 100% of the time - but there you go.

It’s easy to focus on the things that are bothersome or just plain stupid, but overall the car IS pretty good for the price and it’s worth remembering my immediate comparison is a car twice the price. I don’t regret the purchase, but I dread the day I will need to deal with the Zeekr organisation again, for parts or service. It’s very clear the Chinese brands sell a product, not an experience and that’s the trade-off not always apparent when we compare price tags.

Media controls

Went to test drive a 7x today. One of the things I wanted to test was being able to use physical buttons (not the touchscreen) to control a podcast or book. Specifically pause and resume and jump back/ jump forward.

There was a roller control and back and forward buttons on the right of the wheel but they didn’t do anything and the roller adjusted the aircon.

Is there a way to do this? Did I miss anything?

I downloaded every single Supercharging receipt across 40,000 km in my Model Y to see what it actually cost. Here’s the 3-year data.

I’ve had my Model Y for just over three years now (2023–2026), and after crossing the 40,000 km mark, I got curious about the actual, real-world numbers rather than rough estimates.
I went through my Tesla account, extracted all 41 Supercharger receipts, and cross-referenced them with my car's lifetime trip meter to break down where the energy went, what road trips actually look like, and how much was spent.

A quick summary of what the data showed:
Lifetime Efficiency: 150 Wh/km (15.0 kWh/100 km) across 6,000 kWh total.

The Driving Split: ~81% city commuting (charged at home on solar/off-peak) vs ~19% highway road trips (Supercharged along the Hume/Pacific).

Supercharging Reality: Exactly 41 stops in 3+ years (~1 per month, mostly clustered around school holiday road trips). Average stop was 20.6 mins and cost $17.40.

Total 3-Year "Fuel" Bill: $713.47 AUD total out-of-pocket.
The Petrol Comparison: Against an efficient 7L/100km petrol SUV at $1.95/L ($5,460 baseline), it saved about $4,746.

Put together a full write-up with the telemetry charts, city vs highway splits, and cost tables at different tariffs if anyone wants a deeper look:

Essendon delivery times at present?

Hello, we are very excited to have ordered a 7x through a novated lease! The company hasn’t got delivery ETA at this moment so I’m wondering what timeframes have been given to anyone ordering through Essendon dealer. We are getting a LR in Brook, if that’s relevant. Thanks in advance!

Best practices for battery usage

Recently got my performance model. I read fully charging annd using fast chargers leads to battery degradation so in terms of charging I’ve set it to max 80%. I also work remotely so just trickle charge at home during the day. My question is:

- I know charging to 100% not recommended, so how often is it acceptable? Once or twice a fortnight, month? Ocassionally drive long distance so trying to figure it out.

- likewise what’s a healthy number for fast charging (public chargers) - weekly? Fortnightly?. I get it packaged in my novated lease but don’t want to use too much.

Zeekr dealer strategy?

Having test driven a lot of EVs we have landed, like many, on the 7x. That said, we haven't pulled the trigger. The reason is that we don't understand the dealer strategy.

Buying a car is about the car and the service infrastructure behind it. We get some confidence of Zeekr being a Geely brand but don't understand why, unlike Polestar, Volvo, and Geely, why Zeekr is not leveraging the infrastructure of its Geely stable mates. And this discomfort is exacerbated by the many disappointing stories of buying and delivery we read of on Reddit and elsewhere where issues related to "just starting out" and disjointed supply chains are part of the problem, coupled with our own experiences of "Pop-Up" sales offices.

Does anyone know what the Zeekr strategy is? Is there a tangible plan for dealer and service agent longevity and commitment? Is it just us who can't see it? And does anyone know why Zeekr doesn't share the Geely stable?

Thank you

What should I pay attention to on a test drive?

Hey everyone, I've got two test drives coming up this week, an hour with the X and an hour with the 7x.

I don't have much EV experience (driven less than 5 hours in an EV I'd estimate), and the only other EVs I have driven are:

  • Tesla Model Y
  • Polestar 2 (Long Range Dual Motor)

I like the look of the 7x, but want to maximise my time and make sure it's the car for me before plonking down $70k.

I'm hoping I can take the test drives solo, but haven't checked that with the dealership (Zeekr Adelaide).

I plan to test:

  • CarPlay
  • Speakers
  • Cruise control, including lane keep assist
  • Acceleration (I'm testing an X AWD but just the long range 7x, want to make sure the single motor is enough for me)
  • Heating, cooling, seat ventilation, massage function

Is there anything else that you think is important to check out on these cars?

Wireless phone charging experience

I have an iPhone 16 Pro and when I use the wireless charging in the 7X while using CarPlay the charge level hardly keeps constant and never increases. So I have to keep using a USB cable to arrive with a charged phone. Is that something other owners have experienced or is there something wrong with my phone?

Zeekr Hornsby review?

Hi all,

Looking to place an order with Zeekr Hornsby. Has anyone ordered through them? Any feedback as I don’t see any Google reviews to understand.

Have any dealerships been providing any discounts or accessories? What’s negotiable with the dealers?

Thanks!

NMC Battery Care Question

So I’ve ordered my first EV and while I wait I’m getting charger installed etc. I’ve order a Zeekr 7x long range which uses an NMC battery. I’ll do the occasional long trip which I will charge to 100 but for my day to day use I do lots of short trips in the car which all add up to approx 15k per annum.
I’m aware of the main rule of charge to 80% but I was wondering with these batteries is it best to just charge to 80% every night or run a few days and let the battery get down to 20,30 or 50% before charging.

What’s the best method to keep the battery in good health for as long as possible.

Clunking when taking foot off accelerator

Wondering if anyone has had this. Will be taking it to dealer soon. When I take my foot off the accelerator I get a clunk in the rear. I thought it was something in the boot but it’s not. It seems to be when the breaking regen enables but not 100% on that. It sounds like something rolling into the well in the boot.
