Why 7x over Y

Genuine question for someone that was about to pull the trigger on a Model Y before hearing about the Zeekr 7x. I’m considering the base model or LR in both. The 800v architecture isn’t of huge benefit to me and I don’t place it high on my criteria. I do like the cabins and exterior of both, albeit a different approach they have adopted. For these two models (7x and Y) specifically, what does the 7x do better?

Model Y Delivery and into 2027

I’m looking at placing an order but told delivery will be Oct-Nov. With November being so close to 2027, I’m think it may be better to wait for a 2027 built model, mainly due to resale but also the potential there may be some small improvements (understanding they are added at any point)

When does the new model year (build date not land date) start landing in Australia? When should it be ordered to ensure you get that year model?

I’m also mindful of trying to get in before FBT changes in April 2027 as I will be doing a novated lease.

GPU for DIY build

I’ve been really happy with how I have managed to build at a cost effective price but have unfortunately left my GPU until last and now being hit with further recent price increases in the past few weeks. I have a 9600x cpu with 32Gb RAM. I’m looking at either a 9060xt or b850 for now and can upgrade latter if and when needed. 1440p gaming. Any suggestions/deals to look at?

DDR5 options in this climate

I need to buy 2x16GB 6000Mhz with AMD Expo support, it’s painful looking at prices atm. What are recommendations/deals to look at atm? I’ve looked at FB Marketplace and EBay but prices people expect/pay aren’t much lower.

mATX Motherboard choice

Putting together a new PC with Ryzen 9600x CPU, 32GB RAM, nvme gen 4 and likely 9070 GPU. For 1440p gaming, no overclocking. Just need to decide on a Motherboard around or under $200. Was looking at a GIGABYTE B850M FORCE WIFI6E V2 for $179 but wanted to see if there were alternatives to consider before I purchase. I can’t see myself needing more than 2 RAM slots nor do I need an abundance of USB ports. 850 chipset appeals for a better upgrade path over 650 chipset but would consider one if there is a compelling reason. Thanks.

9070 vs 9070xt

I know the 9070xt ($899) seems the more popular choice, but thoughts in the cheaper 9070 ($799) for a new build? Performance is a little less but much more power efficient and $100 cheaper.

Recommend me a white mATX case

Hi,

Looking for a white case that isn’t big. Ideally under 455mm deep and under $150 (inc fans). Using mATX motherboard and up to a 9070xt graphics card (possibly 9060xt) with 750w psu. Any brand or model recommendations appreciated.

DIY vs Prebuilt Gaming PC

I’ve prebuilt before and Ok doing this (design and assembly), I pretty much know the main components models I need. Questions I have:

  1. These days, can it work out cheaper doing a DIY by sourcing current gen components (ideally from Australia)? I like the idea of doing it myself but not if it’s costs more (I’m counting my time as $0).

  2. Also, would love any tips on DIY sourcing or prebuilt suppliers to use.

Thanks
