Opinion on LMDF
LMDF is okay... it's not as great as RE4R's Mercenaries but it will do, for now.
But as it currently is, I think things could be changed to make it better.
Enhancements
Enhancements are fine, but it definitely needs more game-changing enhancements than generic weapon type damage increase and whatnot.
Weapons
Now this is I'd say it's leaning more towards bad than good or great. If RNG decides you get ass weapons then you will. I'd say keep weapon drop as it is but weapon attachments should be something that could be picked up or bought from the enhancement screen also. And don't start talking about how that will be unrealistic because Leon sometimes has the choice to repair his axe using the blood he gets from his enemies.
That said, weapons should be divided into two groups for this game mode; standard and bonus.
- Bonus weapons start off strong immediately once you picked them up but cannot be upgraded any further. This category includes bonus weapons from the main game such as Clatter Carbine or Ghost Grudge... possibly even Requiem (just to show how special it is), and bonus weapons from the game mode itself, such as Hellblaze.
- Standard weapons are weaker than bonus weapons but you can pick-up attachments or buy them from the enhancement screen to upgrade their stats.
Enemies
It's okay. The enemy variety is basically the same as it is in the campaign, the only variety you have is the red and blue aura-ed enemies. To add to red and blue aura-ed enemies, here are a few I could think of...
- Violet aura-ed enemies that will moves faster and hit harder but dies faster.
- Green aura-ed enemies that is slightly tougher but regenerates health.
Additionally, they should really shake up the enemy variety...
- Make the Lickers appear in RHCCC
- Have some chainsaw enemies in ARK
- Put Chunk, the Chef, Selena Corey or her rival in Raccoon City
- BSAA soldiers (although rarely) should appear outside of Raccoon City Camp area
- having them locked in this specific area makes the Bulletproof enhancer useless because players will just avoid the area entirely.
Overall, LMDF is an okay game mode. But it definitely needs more variety and content to make the game more fun.
