Rate my PKM line up

Rate my PKM line up

Is this a good line up? I'm gonna replace Tailow with a Trapinch to get Flygon cuz he's cool AF. Wondering if Slakoth/Slaking is worth the effort to train though. I have a Nincada at lvl 12 that could replace Slakoth.

Advice for first DAP

Hi all!

I'm new to this hobby and I'm looking for a DAP recommendation. I want something small and lightweight and has a clip (or can be optioned with a clip). Similar to the iPod Shuffle back in the day!

I don't really need something high-end bc I don't really own good headphones (yet)

Budget is sub 100$ if possible. Thank you!

How I learned to love the Trimui Brick

Hi all.

After a couple of days, I've been absolutely smitten by this device. I just want to share how I've been using it and what I really like about it.

I literally carry this with me everywhere. The size is perfect for an EDC device. I play it while I'm waiting in line or stuck in a traffic jam. It's also perfect for a quick 5-15min gaming session. I've also been using it one-handed for Pokemon while out and about and it's very comfortable that way. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this.

The screen is amazing. I don't even need to do integer scale. Sure you get some unbalanced pixels but I can live with it since the screen is so small and high quality that I dont really notice it.

NextUI is good. Much better than stock OS but buyers beware - it's not Retroarch-based so you'll need to do some research and re-learn some things. Luckily the community is large and supportive.

Besides gaming, I've installed Rockbox and now it's a great MP3 player. (Pak Store FTW)

Basically this FEELS like the lovechild of an iPod and a Gameboy. Sure it's not a great Music player for audiophiles, it's not an emulation powerhouse, but it's so much fun and nostalgic.

One final note: I wouldn't go above 15min for a gaming session as not only do your fingers get cramped, the device heats up the backplate and it gets uncomfortable quick.

That's all. One of my best buying decisions.

My thoughts on the Trimui Brick

Hi all

I've decided to throw all deliberation away and picked up this used Trimui Brick for around 38$. The value proposition was too high to pass over. After receiving the handheld, here are some of my first impressions.

The screen is absolutely gorgeous and I can confidently say this will scale nicely for all retro systems and in any aspect ratio you can throw at it.

The build is decent. Good plastic, clean lines, very aesthetically pleasing.

The controls are horrible for my taste. So much so that it could be a deal breaker. Idk if it's my particular unit but every button feels like the wrong kind of clicky. Like it's very coarse and rough, like there's sand stuck underneath the controls. It's not quite mushy and not quite clicky, like an awkward in-between. Not to mention, the triggers sit so flushed that I cant comfortably press them, no matter which set of trigger I use. They also fall off way too easily. Coming from the DSI XL, these buttons are just... Bad.

Despite all that, I'm quite happy because I know this will only be my EDC Pokemon machine. Can't ask for more at that price.

My question to you all: Which OS is everyone running on their Bricks? Interested to know.

EDIT & UPDATE

I've disassembled the Brick and gave the rubber membranes a good cleaning. It certainly improved the face buttons but did little to the DPAD.
