City comfort made me weak so I’m leaving and keeping things simple

I will go straight to the point.

Modern life is so loud, expensive, and fake comfortably, because you work more just to pay for the systems you barely control. Even electricity goes out and suddenly people do not know how to stay warm or cook food. That bothered me more than anything.

So I am stepping away.

I am looking for small land or someone already living off grid who wants another pair of hands. Nothing fancy. Cabin, shed, trailer, unfinished build, all fine. I can work. I fix things. I show up early. That matters more than perfect setup.

Last winter changed my thinking. Power outage for two days where I live. Everyone panicking. Stores empty in hours. Phones dying. Meanwhile an older neighbor pulled out two kerosene heaters and sat calm drinking tea. Warm house. No drama. Simple solution.

That moment stuck with me.

People argue solar vs generator vs batteries. Good discussions, but honestly most people overcomplicate survival. Heat, water, shelter. Start there. Everything else is extra.

I did look online for equipment before. Some cheap heater options popped up on Alibaba. Prices looked great. Some reviews said solid quality, others said fuel leaks after a season. That told me enough. Cheap gear can cost safety. No shortcuts when fire and fuel involved.

Here is what I want.

Quiet place. Honest work. Shared values. People serious about simple living, not aesthetic off grid Instagram life.

If you have land, project, or community needing help, message me.

Simple life. Clear priorities. No excuses.

BONGCHON BRIDE

Just finished reading this masterpiece and I wanted to share it cuz I barely see it being recommended!!!

Title: Bongchon Bride

Genre: Webtoons / Yaoi / Historical / Smut / Drama

Status: Completed at 89 chaps and 14 more side stories

Synopsis:

He bought me for 50 sacks of rice. Soongap is nearly beaten to death by his master when friendly giant Bongchun buys him and saves his life. Bongchun's blind mother is delighted, believing her son has finally brought home a bride. And the more Bongchun treats Soongap like his darling bride, the more things get heated...

Opinion:

It's really beautiful, both the art and the story. I literally have no words, honestly. Just read it and prepare some tissues cuz I cried a whole lot

Am I wrong for not lending my mom money?

It happened over 30 minutes ago before making this post. Basically, my mom(F48) knows I(F19) got some small pocket money I've been saving up, and she's attending a funeral and asked me to lend her money cuz in our culture we need to donate or give money to the grieving family, okay? So long story short, I declined and told her I'm using it to pay my tuition cuz we're drowning in debt and I'm not sure where I'm gonna get money if I lose this small amount of money. She got angry and emotional to the point she started to go on about not supporting me financially cuz this is how I treated her (she said I was "selfish"). This was the first time I denied her for money. I like to save up in case I like to buy something or just have it for emergency cases. I love my mom, no doubt but I have reasons as to why I can't or won't lend her money. One of those is because she's got a gambling habit. Our family is swimming in debts because of that very habit she has. Two days ago, I caught her gambling again, it's been multiple times already... it's seriously stressing me out and I keep telling her to stop but she says she can't. Second reason, I've lent her money multiple times and more often than not, she doesn't pay it back and I can't just ask her to pay it back because she uses the "I raised you" card. Third, I really can't lose the money in case she can't pay me back...I need it for my tuition. My mom locked herself in their room after telling me won't support me financially anymore. I've been feeling sick in my stomach after that interaction even now. I'm scared that I did the wrong thing

(Sorry if there are grammatical errors, English isn't my first language)
