I turned 70 a couple of months ago. I retired last year. All was good until I put my townhouse on the market last week. My community has changed and house values are going way down. I live on the West side of the Hudson River and will move to the East side, approximately 40 to 50 miles away.

My sons will be moving from NYC to the other side of the Hudson, too. I like the idea of getting there first so they can live as close or as far from me as they like. I'm feeling down suddenly. I have enjoyed this past year of retirement so much. Going to the gym 3x a week. Reading A LOT. Have had two wonderful vacations. I just want to be in my new place wherever that may be. Today is day 9 of my place being on the market and my realtor told me that i should expect an offer later today. So, it has hit me that I am entering a stressful period. I have to sell before I move so I will have to have a short term rental that allows pets if I don't find something immediately. I don't want to rush into anything -- if places are priced right, they go within a few weeks and often end up in bidding wars. I am not in a position to be in a bidding war. Ugh. Just needed to vent.

I attended a 100th bday party in my old neighborhood for my mother's old friend. My (mother died over a decade ago.) it was an outdoor party.

So many people from my past were there, including a couple of old boyfriends. I'm divorced and 70. I take care of myself with exercise and diet (usually). I'm at a good weight. I don't use botox or anything similar. I'm no longer shy, finally comfortable in my own skin so I was relaxed and enjoyed myself. I actually left with an invitation to visit and stay with one ex boyfriend. I feel so good now.

Two things. i recently turned 70 and over the past years have noticed that i sometimes have difficulty recognizing faces on television. i was watching a series based on a true story and the 2 main women were young and blond.

I had to keep double-checking to figure out who was who.

70 years old and want to look my best. i have not had a facial in a decade.

My skin is very dry and i moisturize, but I need to do more and would love to feel better about my skin by this time next year. I will not do anything intrusive. What can I do?

I know the ranch makes more sense at this age, but living in a free-standing house is not my comfort zone in terms of security. I like the idea of neighbors and hearing kids play -- like I have now in a townhouse community. I do not want a 55+ community. I am moving about 50 miles away to the other side of the Hudson. Family is there. This may sound crazy, but the idea of living alone in a house and losing electric scares me. I guess I can get a generator. I am healthy so far, eat well, exercise, and at a good weight. I figure in a townhouse, i can get a motorized chair for the stairs, if necessary. ideally, i would love to find a townhouse with a master bedroom on the main floor. Have I thought of everything do you think? I just put my place on the market.
