They say to help out the poor but are you allowed to draw the line somewhere? Also is it sinful to try to avoid the situation altogether?
If I had to help every single homeless I encountered I may be joining them. Surely that has to be the case for most of us unless you are a millionaire on here. I am also trying to save, not because I want to be a millionaire. I just want to live comfortably and not worry about being in that same unfortunate situation someday.
I do give change if I have it when encountered by a homeless but I have also started to avoid the situation altogether. If I am doing my shopping the majority of which are needed items, I may try to choose store locations where I know I may encounter less to zero of the people in need who will come up to ask me. This may sometimes mean going to a different part of town. Am I being sinful by doing this? Do I or I should say do we have a Christian obligation to go to the store locations where where we know we will encounter beggars and help them out?
