What's the end game?

If people like Elon Musk genuinely believe AI and robotics will make most human labor unnecessary -and Musk is predicting that money itself could become irrelevant - why are the political leaders allied with the AI industry moving in the opposite direction right now?

In 2025, the Trump-backed reconciliation law expanded SNAP work requirements and created new Medicaid work requirements. CBO estimates those provisions will reduce SNAP participation by about 2.4 million people per month and leave an average of 4.5 million more people uninsured.

At the same time, the administration is aggressively accelerating AI automation - removing regulatory barriers, fast-tracking massive data centers, opening federal land to them, and even making loans, grants and tax incentives available for AI infrastructure.

Those policies seem based on two contradictory ideas: that people should have to work to qualify for basic support, while we’re simultaneously investing enormous resources in technology explicitly intended to reduce the amount of human labor required.

If the promised end state is a world where people don’t need jobs because AI creates abundance, why are we making survival more dependent on having a job while we build the technology that could eliminate those jobs? What is the actual plan for the transition between those two systems?

Puffed Edamame - So much better than Rice Crispies!

The calories and protein on these things are fantastic!

They taste like smaller, firmer Rice Crispies.

I'm sure I'll come up with other ways to eat these too. I just heard about them from someone here on Reddit, and order a bag off of Amazon, just to see what they would be like.

If you've tried them , please let me know what other things I can sub them in for.

1.25 lbs of salad 280 cal, 26g protein.

Spring mix (205.6 g): 43.4 kcal
Creamy dressing (89.4 g): 94.2 kcal
Seitan (48.1 g): 50.9 kcal
Lupini beans (44.6 g): 50.5 kcal
Sesame seeds (3.3 g): 20.8 kcal
Hemp hearts (4.3 g): 25.8 kcal
Dill pickles (186 g): 22.3 kcal

Creamy dressing (put this all in the blender)

Silken tofu: 908.0 g (2 blocks)
Dijon mustard: 240.0 g (48 tsp)
Apple cider vinegar: 239.0 g (1 cup)
Garlic, fresh: 18.0 g (6 cloves)
Sweet onion, raw: 331.0 g (1 onion)
Granulated sugar: 100.0 g (0.5 cup)

This is about 20 servings of dressing.

I portion about 150g into zippie sandwich bags and freeze them flat so I can pull them out as needed.

The last time I posted this I was asked for a picture of the salad, so here it is.

Also, someone commented on the amount of sugar in the recipe, but it comes out to about 1.25 teaspoons per serving, which doesn’t seem excessive to me. Of course, you can change anything if you’re making it - just keep tasting it as you blend until it’s right for you. I promise, I won’t care how you make it.

Why don’t Deaf people usually have a notes app or notebook ready?

I work in customer service and deaf folk come around to buy stuff occasionally, so I keep a pen and paper handy for when they do, and have learned a few signs that are relevant to what I'm selling. I can't read sign barely at all, and just know a couple of words to describe the products.

Anyway, I usually either grab my phones notes app or the pen and paper to communicate but, why don't any of the deaf folk use their notes app or have a pen and notebook in their pocket?

Like, I've thought ahead and packed a pen and notebook in case a deaf person stops by.. why haven't any of them?

It literally just dawned on me that in every interaction, I am the one reaching for the accommodations that I thought to bring.

So if it's this universal (in my experience) maybe you guys have an idea on why.
