Quick snack: shoestring zucchini fries

Quick snack: shoestring zucchini fries

Julienned zucchini, coated in rice flour, then quickly deep-fried in hot oil. Seasoned with salt and japanese assorted chili powder (nanami togarashi). Turned out to be a great way to use leftover zucchini!

The best part about gardening...

...Isn't it cooking & eating what you just harvested? I made hot zucchini salsa and quinoa salad with herbs, cherry tomatoes and fried pole beans, kale and garlic for lunch. Served with some fresh greens.

Euphydryas maturna, scarce fritillary

Eastern Finland. This guy is quite strictly protected by laws here. The majority of entire EU scarce fritillary population lives in eastern and south-eastern Finland, so every summer I try to spot as many as possible!

At my childhood home, a carefully maintained lawn was my dad's pride...

...Then they passed and I took over the house. Now the yard would make them everything else but proud! But also it's full of wildflowers and a small habitat for cutesy critters. Sorry...Not sorry. 🤭

Glowworm tindering

Northern Europe. Glowworms were actively tindering last night. I love seeking these bugs and their mysterious green glow. They are like lil forest fairies!

What's up with this young cherry tree?

Northern Europe. I'm worrying what might be the cause of leaves dying and some kind of yellow gum-like substance (dried sap??) on some of the branches. About 3-4 lower branches have this happening, rest seem to be fine. Is it some kind of illiness?

Who are these guys on my chili plant?

Northern Europe. Lil guys have been hanging there for a few days now and thus far it seems they have done no harm... They are very dark brownish-red in color.
