1989 Trek 520

1989 Trek 520. Picked it up last winter and brought it back to life, replacing everything that wasn't working while keeping as much of its original character as possible. The Biopace chainrings stayed, and an old rear derailleur got a second chance. It's become one of the most comfortable bikes I've owned and handles Colorado gravel roads surprisingly well. Couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
Great Suntour power ratchet bar end shifters !

1997 Trek 930 Singletrack reimagined

About a year ago, I posted this bike before the rebuild. Fast forward to today… my daughter and I brought it back to life together.
She picked every single color, and I have to admit—her color choices were absolutely top notch. We tore it down, hunted for parts, added the decals, and slowly put it all back together. It took time, but every minute was worth it.
My favorite part wasn’t just rebuilding the bike—it was watching her help and seeing how proud she was of something she helped create.
I hope she rides this bike for years to come… or at least until she catches the same disease I have and wants a new bike every six months. 😂
Thanks for checking it out, and remember—it was all about having fun, making memories, and building something together. No trolls… just good vibes. 🚲💙

1984 Miyata 1000

*“Vintage 1984 Miyata 1000 — brought back to life and finally ready for its first touring adventure in decades. Built from Miyata’s legendary triple‑butted CrMo tubing, it’s the kind of old steel that carries its history in every scratch and every mile. The original red accents on the stem and small components are still intact — rare survivors from this model year and getting harder to find.
I’ve been rebuilding this one slowly, making sure every choice fit the spirit of the bike. Running a Shimano Deore XT gold drivetrain paired with a Shimano 600 6‑speed freewheel — smooth engagement, classic tooth profiles, and that unmistakable retro mechanical feel. Shifting is handled by Rivendell Silver bar‑end controls, beautifully modeled after the classic Suntour bar‑end shifters — crisp, reliable, and a perfect nod to the golden age of friction.
And because every serious build deserves a little personality, it’s rocking a Snoopy reflector from Blue Lug — a tiny nod to modern Japanese bike culture layered onto a classic touring frame.
The build: Fairweather Cruise 700×38 — made for Blue Lug and crafted by Panaracer — soaking up the miles with that perfect supple feel. Braking is handled by Dia‑Compe DC‑980 cantis paired with Kool Stop ThinLine pads for smooth, predictable modulation. Dia‑Compe roller cable hangers keep the cable line clean and era‑correct.
Up front, it’s running Nitto randonneur bars for that classic long‑distance sweep. Drivetrain spins on Specialized crank arms with a Velo Orange 48T outer ring — the original 51T was just a bit too much for the front derailleur’s comfort.
Carrying gear is easy with the original Jim Blackburn front rack, topped with a Blue Lug basket (soon to be swapped for a Wald once it arrives). Every piece chosen with intention, every detail dialed in.
Feels good to give this one a second chance on the open road.”**

Finished bringing this mid-80s Trek Cirrus 620 back to life—this one’s special as it was inherited from my bonus family. It’s been garaged/barn-kept since the 80s and finally getting the ride it deserves.

Full refresh top to bottom:

* All new cables + housing
* Overhauled frame and components
* Original 27” wheels kept, now rolling on fresh Panaracer Pasela ProTite tires (1 1/4)
* Stock cantilever brakes with new Jagwire brake pads

Cockpit got a comfort + style upgrade:

* Nitto Tallux stem
* Nitto moustache bars wrapped in BTP cloth tape
* Suntour Accushift shifters running in friction mode

Kept it mostly period-correct with a few rider-focused tweaks. Super smooth, surprisingly light, and way more lively than my Trek 520.

Always cool bringing something like this back from storage—especially when it stays in the family and gets a second life on the road 🤙
