Did you care about traditions as a newcomer?
I’m part of a group of fellows that’s getting a new meeting started in our little foreign city. We will be the second English speaking group in town. We are starting with just one meeting a week (at a time that doesn’t conflict with the other group) and after an initial discussion we’ve decided we want our primary purpose to be a solid foundation (not drunkalogues or problems du jour).
We are pretty aligned on having it be a rotating speaker / step meeting but have differing opinions about whether or not to include traditions too (ie one week speaker on step 1, next week speaker on tradition 1, etc). So I thought I’d gather some opinions - when you were new would you have been turned off by a tradition speaker meeting? For me as long it was another alcoholic telling a story about alcoholism, I was happy. I also think there’s a lot to be learned from the traditions in regard to carrying the first 12 spiritual principles into all our affairs.
Looking forward to your thoughts!
