The Orange Voyager

The Orange Voyager

Hey all! I thought I’d post this as it was a time consuming process to do but it was totally worth it to give my Voyager a new lease of life from the drab black it previously was. Black is a great colour but I felt it could be better, especially after I came across an article by Jo Williams: https://blog.zsa.io/spray-paint-your-keyboard/

I read through the article and looked at their completed keyboard, then looked at mine, then looked at theirs again and looked at mine again… you catch the drift.

So, I decided to make my kids pick the colour. We settled on an orange colour after addressing (mostly me) that Dad would rather not have a “pink princess keyboard”. 🤣

After a week of priming, painting and clear coating and waiting for keycaps, it is finished!

Thanks to ZSA for the article, it really did a great job to support me in this.

Has anyone else done any fun colours with their Voyager?

DHL UK Customs Invoice

Hello all! 👋

I have ordered a product from a company based in California, USA, and I have been issued a customs invoice for the product coming into the UK.

In most cases that would be fine, I would settle this as it is my obligation to as I am importing the good(s) into the country.

However, in this case I ordered the item via the company’s website (they use Shopify) and they have charged me “Taxes” for $85.80 and shipping for $29.98. The first charge is tax as I have confirmed this with DHL in a screenshot. There is no way around this as when you input your address the tax and shipping is added.

So by all accounts, I have paid tax. However, the sender has stated on the waybill that tax has not been paid and DHL are sticking to this rather than investigating the seller.

I have gone through three advisors at DHL all stating it’s not paid and no matter what I tell them, they aren’t interested and won’t look into the matter.

I have attached the invoice and I’m just baffled why I’m being given an invoice for circa £70 (of which £11 is an administration processing fee that DHL pays the customs on my behalf and I have to pay).

What are my options here? As far as I am aware, the sending contract is between the sender and DHL and it’s the senders responsibility to disclose taxes paid? I don’t really want to be paying tax twice.
