The Battle of Calphade Pt 1

Hey everyone! I'm a big fan of Crimson Desert, and the Battle of Calphade is one of the titular reasons. First time playing through, I was already enjoying the game, but, when it came to playing and experiencing Chapter 5, Cracks in the Shield, it made me fall in love with it.

The siege of Calphade is an experience I've been waiting play in a game since I had first understood the joys of gaming as a kid. This is my ode to it.

This creation was also inspired by a fellow poster of this subreddit, u/jaquan23, through his own photo-story telling technique, and also u/JJMOP who takes way better photos that I ever will.

Hope you enjoy!

Anutumbra

What do you all think the chances are of Umbra coming back?

Crimson Desert’s story deals with time and cycles, anyone think there’s a chance Umbra might try to come back from a different, undefeated cycle?

If the Guardians and Kliff can loose 107 times and come back, any reason to think Umbra can’t do the same?

So about that Soul Spear

Massive game, I knew about the Soul Spear but I had no ideal where it was until I had happened to come across it (on my second playthrough no less!).

Speaking of, Crimson Desert seems to have some surprisingly dark elements of environmental story telling, especially around the Anutumbra Cult. I’m continuously impressed the more I play this game.

This Games Story…

Gotcha! This isn’t another complaint about the story.

This is actually a post about the story, spoilers for the Chapter 10, and after.

Alright, so we find out that Deleysia, once a peaceful steampunk-lite kingdom ruled by the (mostly) altruistic megalomaniac Marni was taken over by an AI that fused with the parts of the Abyss, aka H.A.L.L. There is an entire subplot you can infer from the people of Deleysia, specially the guards being under H.AL.L.s control with the Vision Helmet but I digress.

Admittedly I don’t understand how, but, we defeat H.A.L.L. at some point prior to defeating Caliban and Umbra, freeing Marni, and Deleysia from the rogue AI’s grasp. >!Or so we think.!<

During the epilogue we return to Deleysia, meeting who we think is Marni, only for H.AL.L. to reveal itself. Other (potentially massive) implications aside, do we think Pearl Abyss will utilize this unresolved plot point in the DLC?

Relatedly, anyone want to talk lore? 😅

Take me back to Calphade

Pearl Abyss I beg you to give us a re-siege mechanic so that we relieve the amazing experience that was Chapter 6, Cracks in the Shield.

Yes I have a save point before it, yes I can do back and replay it, but I want it new again.

We have re-blockade, but can we get a re-siege?

Spoilers for Chapter 6 and onward.

So everyone remembers the siege of Calphade right, in my opinion, one of the highlights of the game. The whole Cracks in a Shield quest line might be the best quest-line in the game.

What if we could do it again?

Since re-blockades have been introduced, do you think the developers at PA could introduce a system that could re-blockade an entire region?

It could work something like being tied to the amount of landmarks, or fortifications that an enemy faction - Blood Blandits, Black Bears, Marauders - could blockade. Better yet, allow towns to be re-blockaded as well (I don't actually know if towns can be or not). Once one of those enemy factions has enough of them, they can control the region, then Kliff & gang get to liberate a region.

Just like the battle for Calphade, or the siege at Pailune - yinz know, re-sieges.

Helldivers 2 (modded)

I always find myself coming back to this game, and every time I do, it presents itself with such cinematic shots.
