Alrighty so here's what I'm trying to do: I've got a composition that I'm trying to do some mask work. I've got an adjustment clip with monochrome ticked on to make photos at the bottom rung black and white.

Problem now is that when I try to mask on the black and white clip, it also masks out the bottom layers. I'm still somewhat new to Davinci and this has proven to be a real headache because I know I'm close to getting what I want but it's just not there.

Any ideas?
