A music video we shot in various parking garages around Hobart!

G’day legends! I’m a Hobart based videographer and I directed this music video for local artist, Charlotte Lucretia. We had a minuscule budget and no real crew so made the most of the available light and architecture in Hobart’s parking garages.

The bulk of the video was shot in Argyle Street Carpark with some additional shots in the Market Place carpark, and the white backdrop scenes were filmed at OI Studios. We filmed high up in the carpark in the couple of hours before they closed for the night to avoid being a nuisance, and only rare encountered anyone while shooting. Hope you enjoy!

Some stills from a music video I made around Rottnest Island and Lancelin Dunes!

G’day folks! I’m a filmmaker/videographer based in Tassie and I recently made a music video across TAS and WA for an emerging electronic music artist, Charlotte Lucretia. The video is hugely about the beauty of the natural world, and while a large sum of the production was based in Tasmania, we needed some extra colour and detail for our desert and ocean scenes and WA was the place! I had the best time shooting around Perth and you’ll spot Rottnest Island’s amazing beaches and Lancelin Dunes’ desert-like vistas.

Perth itself is a gorgeous city with a lovely vibe (kinda like Tassie’s relaxed ambience mixed with big-city convenience) so I’ll definitely be back, whether to film or just hangout! I’m always down to expand my network of creatives so if you’re a musician or filmmaker or artist of any kind feel free to reach out!

Some stills from a no-budget short I made with a Sony DSLR, a couple tiny lights from Amazon, and practically no crew!

G’day folks! I’m a filmmaker/freelance videographer based in Tasmania, Australia, and my short film Wear & Tear just picked up Best Cinematic Craft at VSFF, a fairly
notable festival here in Australia. This was a huge surprise as we made it with no crew (outside of cast members occasionally holding a light), a DSLR with one lens (SONY A7CII with a 24-105mm), and a couple of cheap RGB lights from Amazon. The shots in the clothes dryer and sink were done on a DJI Osmo Action 5Pro.

The film primarily unfolds in montage, so there was a wealth of footage to capture in a relatively short production schedule, so I mostly relied on available light or a well placed RGB panel when needed (mostly in the bathroom scenes). We paid our composer a small stipend for his original score, but otherwise it was a no-budget labour of love made on the cheap and on the fly. I still have lots to learn about many areas of the craft and I’m sure y’all will identify ways in which the movie could be improved, but I hope this inspires you to just make something without stressing too much about gear or crew size! You might even get an award and some media attention, and if not you’ll still have brought art into the world. :)

Some stills from an award-winning short film we recently shot in Tasmania!

G’day folks! I made this short film with some amazing Tassie talent for the Very Short Film Festival, and not only was it selected as the only Tassie finalist in the Open Category, but we took home the national award for Best Cinematic Craft for our cinematography, editing and sound design. We made our little movie, Wear & Tear, mostly in the Greater Hobart region and it was a thrill to see these images of Tassie rewarded!

We made this short film in various locations around Hobart and just won Best Cinematic Craft at VSFF! It’s now touring across Australia but you can watch it here :)

We made Wear & Tear in Hobart with the support of local businesses such as Gigi’s Diner and Vivi Al Ago for the Very Short Film Festival. VSFF had its national premiere weekend at the State Cinema last week (before a national tour) and we were thrilled to be the only Tasmanian finalists at the Premiere Night. Our film, Wear & Tear, took home the award for Best Cinematic Craft for our cinematography, editing, score & sound. Hope you enjoy!
