My ex reached out out of nowhere and made me a really strange offer/ F27

First off, I’m in a happy relationship and would never do anything to jeopardize it. That being said, something bizarre happened with my ex, and I can’t help but wonder what his motivation is. I’ve been with my current boyfriend for a little over a year. My ex and I broke up about a year and seven months ago after dating for roughly a year. It wasn’t a bad relationship; we simply weren’t right for each other. He has texted me a few times since the breakup, but I’ve never replied.

Out of nowhere, my ex texted me again. I initially ignored him, but he kept messaging and said there was something he needed to bring up. I work in the legal field, so I thought it might have something to do with that and eventually asked what was going on. After a lot of weird, mysterious buildup, he told me he wanted to “buy me things.” At first, I thought he meant something business-related, but he clarified that he literally wanted to pay for things I wanted, supposedly with no strings attached. I immediately said no. I don’t need the money, and accepting gifts from an ex while I’m in a relationship would be wildly inappropriate. He said he’d wanted to make this offer for a while and didn’t know I had a boyfriend. When I told him I did, he said he didn’t care. Apparently, I wouldn’t even have to talk to him, if I wanted something, I could just ask, and he’d give me his card to pay for it.

I said no multiple times, deleted the conversation, and stopped responding. He has since sent me around twenty messages reiterating the offer and insisting he expects absolutely nothing in return, not conversation, attention, sex, or even regular contact. I’m obviously not going to accept, but I can’t shake my curiosity because the whole thing is so strange. What does someone get out of this? Is it a kink? A scam, and if so what is the scam? Tax evasion?? Or is there another explanation?

27F - haven’t been able to breathe properly for two weeks 🥲

About two weeks ago, I developed constant chest pressure and shortness of breath, specifically the feeling that I cannot get a full or satisfying breath. I initially thought it was my asthma, so I went to my pulmonologist and was prescribed Symbicort and Spiolto Respimat, but neither helped.

Because the symptoms continued, I went to the ER. My vital signs and examination were normal, with no wheezing. I had an ECG, troponin, bloodwork, and CT angiography with contrast, which were reassuring. I was given an anti-inflammatory injection and discharged.

I then had further cardiac testing, including an echocardiogram and Holter monitor, which were normal. I returned to pulmonology and was switched to Relvar Ellipta 200, which helped somewhat initially but did not resolve the symptoms. My FeNO was normal, and I am scheduled for spirometry with pre- and post-bronchodilator testing, which has not been performed yet.

I was also started on prednisone 50 mg daily and have taken two doses so far without significant improvement in my breathing or chest pressure.

I still have constant chest pressure and difficulty getting a full breath. I tend to feel better lying down and worse sitting, standing, or walking around. I have occasionally noticed a slight noise when breathing in, and recently I have become unusually aware of food traveling down when I swallow.

At this point, after approximately two weeks of persistent symptoms despite reassuring cardiac testing and several asthma treatments, I am trying to understand what else could be causing this and what specialist or testing I should pursue next.

27F looking for help!

I really need help because I have not been feeling like myself for the past several days. 🫩

It started with constant chest pressure and the feeling that I cannot get a full breath. I thought it was my asthma, so I first went to my pulmonologist. She prescribed two new inhalers, Symbicort and Spiolto Respimat, but neither helped, and I continued to have the same constant chest pressure and difficulty breathing.

Because my symptoms persisted, I went to the emergency room. They evaluated me and told me that my heart, lungs, vital signs, and examination were all normal. They did not hear any wheezing or find anything urgent. They gave me an injection of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication to reduce inflammation and help relieve pain, then discharged me.

Despite all of this, I still have the same constant chest pressure and still feel like I cannot get a full breath. At this point, I don’t know what to do anymore and would really appreciate any guidance.
