Got the baby through the first few days, quite smoothly. By this morning it was eating and drinking.

Momma hatched a few more babies. One got absolutely disassembled, presumably by the other hens. The other two are living well with her so I gave it another go with the little one I'd been tending and she finally accepted it.

I guess she was more acclimated to mom life or something. So the story gets a happy ending.

Little critter is united with its flockmates/siblings. I'm quite relieved too because I start college in two weeks 😅😅 Hanging on to the brooder and incubator in case they're needed for future clutches of eggs. I won't be unprepared like that again.

Thanks to those of yall that actually helped and weren't just condescending assholes. It's thanks to yall (and a youtube video for an emergency diy incubator) that the little thing made it.

Nature is messy, so who knows how the rest of the story will go. But atleast for this moment, all is as it should be for our little flock.

I gave it water and electrolytes. It won't take the food. If I hold it, it calms down but thw second I sit it down it starts running around and squawking.

Do I need to keep trying with the food? I currently have three optipns for it: dry crumbles, wet crumbles, and wet crumbles mixed with egg yolk from a boiled egg.

It's seemingly quite vigorous compared to its start yday. I'm waiting for the incubator and brooder box set up to come in tomorrow.

What more can I do for it rn? Should i just carry it around with me so it's not freaking out? Like...theyre not usually alone this young so I dont want it lonely.

Sorry I'm stupid. I never planned to hand care for a chick.. mommq chicken was supposed to do all of this so I'm reading books about it and watching videos.. I just want to give it the best shot I can.

It's far from out of the woods but it did make it through the night. It's now trying to walk around too. Its navel is seemingly closing up.

I don't think it has much of a shot at making it, but seemingly more of a shot than I thought it had last night. It chirped throughout the night and was lively every time I checked on it, which was every hour.

Idk. Although not probable, it making it now seems more of a possibility than it did and honestly that's all I can hope for. Will update if anything changes.

Edit to add: it's peeping, opening its eyes, scratching its chin with its foot.. like it seems viable, but this is my first time and idk what to do. I'm currently heating up a diy incubator i got the Idea from a youtube video. Currently, it's wrapped in a towel in the front of my shirt with it's head above the towel. I don't have any disillusionment about it actually making it. We didn't havr an incubator set up because everyone told us momma would care for them. It so far has taken a few drops of water from a dropper and thrown its head back to swallow. It is lively despite not being able to sit up yet... I have to atleast try and save it, even though the odds are abysmal. Anyone who has helpful advice, please comment.

And for the record: our chickens have a fully varied diet. Pellets, scratch grains, bugs, worms, seeds, berries, leftover veggies, boiled eggs, oyster shell. Literally everything we can think of that's chicken safe.

Heyyy everyone! Does anyone know of a place in the area that can replace a zipper on some leather doc marten platform boots? I saw a place called I think "Ruben's boot repair" or something but all of the reviews are for cowboy boots, not the type I have. If not them, any suggestions? These are my everyday shoes and I hate throwing stuff away that could just be fixed. Ive been through so much with my boots. They're a part of me. We've trauma bonded 🤣 I don't want new ones, I want these ones repaired 😅 Thanks in advance!

Bought "her" as a curly hair a couple years ago. Looks nothing like my two adult curlys so I posted her after her last molt and asked if i was tripping in thinking I was given the wrong t.. 😬 Others agreed, but no ID was made. She's hardened off now. Any guesses as to what brand (I know thats the wrong word, spacing on the right word🤦‍♀️🙃species, breed..??) of t I have as my roommate? Ive had this costa rican zebra/striped knee for years but she grows sooo dang slow well... all this time later and she finally got her stripes! 🥹The second pic i slightly enhanced the color so it's more visible. I'm so dang excited! Recently discovered my baby "curly hair" I got at the same time as her, from the same place, is clearly not a curly hair (still unknown species as of now) so I was unsure if that would happen twice lol. 😅But nope. She's definitely my little zebra and I legit almost cried when I noticed her stripes. It's been such a long dang time🥹
