Be honest: how much have your expectations for this season changed over the last two weeks?

Two weeks ago, after the Mississippi State loss and with Washington and Michigan coming up, I think a lot of us were still trying to figure out what this team really was.

Now Minnesota is 4-1, 2-0 in the Big Ten, with back-to-back wins over ranked Washington and Michigan.

I'm curious how much those two games have actually changed your expectations, not just because winning the Jug feels great, but for the rest of the season.

Are you still taking this completely week by week? Starting to think 8-9 wins is realistic? Or has your ceiling moved even higher?

Purdue almost feels like a different kind of test now. After two emotional wins as the underdog, can we go on the road and handle a game where expectations are suddenly much higher?

Where were you on this team two weeks ago, and where are you now?

TSV 1860 München 4–0 SpVgg Ansbach (Post-Match Discussion)

That's what Sechzig needed as reaction after Burghausen.

The first half was pretty flat, but after the break the team looked completely different, much more aggressive, sharper and finally clinical in front of goal. Wagner made a huge impact after coming on, and it was also great to see Niederlechner get on the scoresheet after last week.

Four goals, a clean sheet and a much stronger second half. Now the big question is whether Sechzig can make that level of intensity the standard rather than just a reaction after a disappointing result.

What stood out most to you yesterday?

My first Sechzig shirts finally arrived!

They’re finally here,. my first two Sechzig shirts.

The 1997/98 Nike home shirt was the one I was especially looking forward to, and seeing it in person makes me like it even more. The second one also feels especially fitting right now, since it was a special Oktoberfest edition. Perfect timing for it to arrive 🥨

Definitely won’t be the last ones.

Austria Wien Women vs Inter tomorrow: what are your expectations?

After introducing myself here a few days ago, I’ve been trying to follow Austria as closely as possible, and that includes the women’s team.

I watched the Chelsea match on Disney+ here in Poland and I was genuinely impressed. Losing 1-0 away to Chelsea obviously isn’t the result anyone wants, but Austria never looked overwhelmed by the occasion and stayed in the game until the end. Uka hitting the post still feels like a big "what if" moment.

Tomorrow feels particularly special: the first home match of the WCL phase, against Inter. And being Italian myself adds a little extra flavour to this one 😄

Inter started with a 1-0 win against Häcken, so I’m curious to hear from those of you who know the women’s team much better than I do.

What are you expecting from the match? Also, is anyone here going to the stadium tomorrow?

If you could bring one former Gopher back for this 2026 team, who are you taking?

We’ve talked a lot lately about what this current team does well and where it still needs to improve, so I thought this could be a fun one.

If you could take any former Minnesota player, in his college prime, and drop him straight onto the 2026 roster, who would you choose?

It doesn’t necessarily have to be the greatest Gopher of all time, I’m more interested in who you think would make the biggest difference to this particular team right now.

Only one player. Who are you bringing back, and why?

If you could bring back one former Sechzig player for this team, who would it be?

A question for the Löwen who have been following the club much longer than I have: if you could bring back one former Sechzig player and put him into the current team, who would you choose?

Not necessarily the greatest player in the club’s history, I mean the player who, at the level he showed while playing for Sechzig, would help this particular team the most right now.

Who would you choose, and why?

Following the U of M from Europe — what should someone experience on a first visit to campus

Hi everyone! I’m originally from Italy and I’ve been living in Poland for many years. I'm a Gophers' fan and I’ve followed Minnesota athletics from Europe for quite a while, especially football, hockey and baseball, and over time that’s made me increasingly curious about the university itself and what campus life actually feels like beyond what you see online.

I’ve never been to Minnesota, but I’d really like to make it to Minneapolis one day and finally experience the U of M in person.

So I’m curious: if someone was visiting campus for the first time, what would you consider essential to see or experience? Any particular spots, traditions, buildings, food, campus areas or gameday things that really feel “Minnesota” to you?

I’d love to hear both student and alumni perspectives.

Gopher hockey is back this week, so what are you most curious to see in year one under Brett Larson?

Football has obviously been taking up most of the attention lately, but with Gopher hockey opening the season at Michigan Tech on Friday, I figured it was time to talk some puck too.

I’ve followed the hockey program for a while as well, and I’m really curious to see what changes under Brett Larson and what kind of identity this team develops early in the season.

What are you guys most interested in seeing from this team in the first few weeks? Any players, lines or areas of the team you’re especially watching?

I’d also be curious to hear what expectations people have for Larson’s first season overall.

Four games into the Sumrall era: what do you trust about this team now that you didn’t before the season?

Four games in feels like a good point to take stock.

For me, the biggest difference isn’t even the 4-0 record or being back in the top 10, it’s that I’m starting to trust this team not to beat itself. The coaching feels more decisive, the team looks more disciplined, and when Ole Miss made it a game in the second half, Florida responded instead of unraveling.

Obviously there’s a long way to go and Missouri on the road is exactly the kind of game that can bring everyone back down to earth quickly.

So what’s the one thing about this team you trust now that you didn’t trust before the season?

SV Wacker Burghausen 3–1 TSV 1860 München (Post-Match Thread)

First league defeat of the season, and a pretty disappointing one.

Burghausen made life difficult from the start and Sechzig never really found the same control and composure we had seen in the last few matches. The absences didn’t help, but I don’t think they explain everything.

One bad result doesn’t undo the progress of the last few weeks, but today definitely showed there is still a lot of work to do.

What bothered you most about the performance? And how much do you read into this result?

SV Wacker Burghausen vs TSV 1860 München (Pre-Match Discussion)

Another interesting away test tomorrow. Seven points from the last three matches have given Sechzig some momentum, and the performance against Nürnberg II felt like another step in the right direction.

Burghausen won’t be easy, especially away from home, so I’m curious to see whether the team can keep the same level of concentration and game management we saw last weekend.

What are you expecting tomorrow? Would you change anything in the starting XI, and where do you think the match will be decided?

First trip to Seattle since 1976: what do you most want to learn about this Gopher team on Saturday?

The Akron game was exactly the kind of bounce-back we needed, but Washington obviously feels like a completely different test, first Big Ten game, on the road, and in a pretty tough environment.

Rather than just asking for score predictions, I’m curious what everyone here most wants to learn about this team on Saturday.

For me, a few things stand out: how the offense travels against a stronger opponent, whether we can establish the running game, how Drake Lindsey handles that kind of road atmosphere, and whether the team can avoid the sort of mistakes and penalties that hurt so much against Mississippi State.

What would you need to see at Washington to come away feeling more confident about this Gopher team heading into Big Ten play?

TSV 1860 München 2–0 1. FC Nürnberg II (Post-Match Thread)

A much better second half from Sechzig yesterday. The first half was fairly even, but after the break the team looked sharper, got the early goal through Deniz and, this time, managed the lead much more convincingly.

That’s probably the biggest positive for me. We’ve seen too many good positions turn into draws this season, so it was encouraging to see the team stay in control and get the second goal instead of dropping deeper.

Deniz was excellent again, and another clean sheet at home is also a very good sign. Seven points from the last three matches and still unbeaten, it feels like the team is starting to build some momentum.🔵🦁 FORZA LÖWEN

What does your Sechzig matchday routine look like?

Since I’ve started following Sechzig more closely, one of the things I’ve become increasingly curious about is what a normal home matchday actually looks like for the people who go to the Grünwalder regularly.

What do you usually do before a match? Do you have any particular routines or traditions? Are there certain pubs, bars or other places around Giesing where you normally meet other Löwen? And how early do you usually head towards the stadium?

I’m also curious about the smaller things that probably feel completely normal if you’ve been going for years, certain streets you always walk through, something you always eat or drink, a place you always stop at, people you meet before every game, anything like that.

Following from abroad, you can watch the matches and learn a lot about the club, but I imagine the actual matchday culture around Giesing is something you only really understand once you experience it. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to do that myself one day.

So, what does a typical Sechzig home matchday look like for you? 💙🦁

SpVgg Greuther Fürth II 1–1 TSV 1860 München - Post-Match Discussion

Another draw, and I’m curious to hear how everyone here saw this one.

For me, the frustrating part is that the first half was actually quite good. Sechzig started aggressively, got the early goal through Eberwein and for long stretches looked like the better and more controlled side. There were opportunities to make it 2–0, and that feels important in hindsight.

The second half was much more difficult. Fürth pressed higher, Sechzig seemed to lose some of the control they had before the break, and for a while we became too passive. After the penalty and the equaliser, though, the team reacted again and created enough chances to win it, which almost makes the result even more frustrating.

That seems to be the main question for me at the moment: is the bigger problem finishing games when we are on top, or managing the periods when the opponent increases the intensity? Five draws in eight matches while still unbeaten is a strange record, clearly there is a solid base, but too many good positions are turning into one point instead of three.

One thing that absolutely deserves mentioning is the away support. Around 2,500–3,000 Löwen on a Tuesday night in Fürth, in a total crowd of 4500/5000, is incredible. At times it genuinely sounded like a Sechzig home game. Whatever frustrations there are on the pitch, the support this club gets at Regionalliga level continues to amaze me. 💙🦁

How did you see the match? And what worries you more at the moment: the missed chances, the game management after taking the lead, or something else?

Gophers fan from Italy, following from Poland

Hi everyone! I thought it was finally time to introduce myself here.

I'm Italian, born and raised near Turin, but I've been living in Poland for many years. I've been following the Minnesota Golden Gophers from Europe for quite some time, especially football, although I'm also interested in the men's hockey and baseball programs.

Following college sports from this side of the Atlantic is obviously a very different experience: late kickoffs, limited coverage and no real local connection, but that's also part of what makes it special. Over time Minnesota has become much more than just another college team I check results for, and I'd like to start taking part in the community here instead of just following from a distance.

The loss to Mississippi State was obviously a rough one, especially the running game and the penalties, but I'm curious to see how the team responds against Akron and then once Big Ten play starts.

Looking forward to following the season with you guys and learning more from people who are much closer to the program.

Tomorrow vs Schwaben Augsburg – time for the first home win? 🦁

The late equaliser in Vilzing still hurts a bit. I honestly thought we had finally done enough to take all three points, especially after that crazy Deniz goal.

Now back at the Grünwalder tomorrow. Still unbeaten in the league, which is obviously positive, but there have already been too many games where Sechzig were in a good position and couldn’t finish the job.

How are you feeling about tomorrow? Do you expect any changes from Kayabunar, and who do you think could be the key player against Schwaben?

I’ll be watching from Poland as always. Hoping this is finally the first home win of the season.

Italian following Danish football from Poland – AaB is my club 🔴⚪

Hi everyone!

I’m Matteo, Italian but living in Poland since 2013.

I’ve been following Danish football from abroad for quite a while, with AaB being the club I feel connected to. My first memories of AaB actually go back to their European matches in the 1990s, and over the years that curiosity gradually became a real attachment to the club.

These days I’m lucky enough to be able to watch Danish football regularly from Poland via streaming, so I try to follow not only AaB but also what is happening around Danish football in general.

I recently joined r/AaBFodbold as well, but I thnik this forum would be a great place to understand the wider Danish football culture better: the rivalries, how different clubs are perceived around the country, supporter culture, and all the things that are difficult to fully understand when you follow from abroad.

I don’t speak Danish, unfortunately, but I can translate posts quite easily, so feel free to reply in Danish if you prefer.

Since there are supporters of many different clubs here, I’d be really interested to hear your perspective:

How is AaB generally viewed by supporters of other Danish clubs today? Do you think the perception of the club has changed over the last few years?

Greetings from Poland! 🇮🇹🇵🇱

Forza de Røde! 🔴⚪

Matteo
