OG 3DS Power Button Not Working - Found Corroded Capacitor During Repair

Hi everyone,

my original Nintendo 3DS has an issue: the device charges fine, but it won't turn on at all. So I disassembled it to find the cause.

While taking it apart, I discovered a visibly corroded capacitor on the motherboard. The component has turquoise/green corrosion deposits and is located in the power/charging circuit area (CTR-CPU-01 board).

Can anyone identify this capacitor? (Component type, value, specifications)

I'd really like to get this working again so I can play my old games. Any help would be much appreciated! 🙏

[3DS] OG 3DS Power Button Not Working - Found Corroded Capacitor

Hi everyone,

my original Nintendo 3DS has an issue: the device charges fine, but it won't turn on at all. So I disassembled it to find the cause.

While taking it apart, I discovered a visibly corroded capacitor on the motherboard. The component has turquoise/green corrosion deposits and is located in the power/charging circuit area (CTR-CPU-01 board).

I've already tested the power button with a multimeter, it's working fine. So I'm pretty confident that the corroded capacitor is the culprit. The rest of the motherboard looks good, no other visible damage or corrosion.

My questions:

Can anyone identify this capacitor? (Component type, value, specifications)

What replacement part would be suitable?
Can I simply desolder and replace it?

I'd really like to get this working again so I can play my old games. Any help would be much appreciated! 🙏

Thanks in advance!
