Scored a broken 3DS XL super smash edition for $16 at the flea market
So I got lucky at the flea market today and my hands on this bad boy but as you can see it's been chopped in half and some stranger (he wanted to grab it but I was there first) told me that it's worthless because according to him repairing this is "impossible" I still went for since it was only $16 but I just want to come here and ask to make sure if it is indeed impossible to repair or is there a way I can somehow get it working again. I have never repaired nor opened a 3DS before so I wanted to get some opinion before I started fiddling with it
Edit: I think $16 is still more than worth it even if it broken as I plan to make a video out of it for my social media channel (whateversunnyfinds) but to be enable to repair it would be amazing as well, so I will use any helpful advice I receive from here to make an update video on my social media accounts if anyone would like to keep up
2ds xl y button
Recently my y button started working intermittently. Took the console apart just now, cleaned the membrane, physical button, and the pad on the board, and it's still doing the same thing. I can't see any kind of damage on the board, I haven't dropped it or anything. Is the pad on the board just going bad?
Please help identifying 3DS issue!
So, my 3DS has, for many years, had an odd screen brightness powering-off issue.
As a kid, I found the top screen to be very bright, and didn't seem to respond to brightness control, whereas my bottom one could.
If I remember correctly, depending on the hinge position it could also either work or pop and shut off.
So I dropped the brightness to one, and managed to keep it working, irrespective of the hinge position. This left me with a low brightness bottom screen and a high brightness top screen.
Well, after many years, I got the 3DS out of storage and bought it a charger. I was hoping to mod it!
Alas, I discovered the brightness difference and found it annoying.. I very quickly went to turn up the brightness in my settings.
Pop
Turns off.
I try to turn it back on..
Takes a second, then I see the screens show the home menu for a split second before, again, a pop and the device just completely shuts off.
I'd figured that it was a top screen related issue due to how brightness control worked for the bottom screen only. And of course, you naturally realise that if the hinge position affects the device's ability to switch on, that it would indicate a ribbon cable issue.
So, I found a guide and opened her up.
Here's what she looks like currently. I was hoping that simply reseating the screen connector cables would be enough, however it wasn't.
Instead I've completely disassembled it to get a look at those cables that pass through the hinge.
What I found is I think two tears affects two cables, one tear per cable. One that handles the camera, the other is that one that the speakers are soldered onto.
I'd like to ask, do you agree with me? Are those tears sufficient to cause this problem? And are they consistent with the symptoms I mentioned?
I'm guessing the camera module isn't as urgent, but the larger piece that connects to the top screen directly and connects the speakers, I'm guessing is the bigger problem.
Images 2-4 show the larger piece and two pictures of the suspected tear.
Images 5-7 show the camera module and again, two pictures of the suspected tear.
Both suspected tears would have occurred within the hinge.
If you lot agree, I'll just order replacements and hopefully get it fixed myself.
Thank you!
Bonus points if you can tell me the album I've currently got on my record player!
Edit: hope the images are clear enough to see the tears I'm hoping to show. Just realised a red circle may have been more useful!
N3DS Stripped screw

2ds won’t charge or power on
I bought this 2DS for five dollars at a flea market. The seller said it did not turn on. I tried replacing the battery, but that did not work. I’ve tested the fuses and they are fine. I’ve cleaned the board and everything looks to be in working condition. I have no clue what the problem could be.
what is this and how do i make it go away?
it doesn’t go away and you can still see it there when it’s off
Nintendo 2DS blue light of doom
My Nintendo 2ds gets this light every time i have reseated the ribbon cables and replace the batteries i don’t know what to do
Need help restoring this 3DS!
Hi all, I’ve had this 3DS since I was a kid, it turns on and works fine, however, as you can see it is in need of repair.
I really would like to get both screens replaced, and the shell replaced too, along side the buttons and joystick.
I don’t think I have the skills to do this myself, so if anyone knows how to do this or someone who does this please let me know.
Of course im willing to pay for the labour and parts!
New 3DS Yellow Custom
This post was written using Google Translate, so the wording might be a bit awkward.
I’ve finished fully assembling the New 3DS I painted previously, including all the parts.
I repainted it because the paint was chipping around the hinge and buttons, but it seems some chipping is inevitable.
It’s the first time you’ve seen a yellow New 3DS, right? Looks cool, doesn't it?
The quality isn't quite as good in person as it looks in the photos, but since it's for my own use and this was my first painting project, I’m quite satisfied with it.
OG 3DS Power Button Not Working - Found Corroded Capacitor During Repair
Hi everyone,
my original Nintendo 3DS has an issue: the device charges fine, but it won't turn on at all. So I disassembled it to find the cause.
While taking it apart, I discovered a visibly corroded capacitor on the motherboard. The component has turquoise/green corrosion deposits and is located in the power/charging circuit area (CTR-CPU-01 board).
Can anyone identify this capacitor? (Component type, value, specifications)
I'd really like to get this working again so I can play my old games. Any help would be much appreciated! 🙏
Is There anyway to fix or a to fitted a Micro SD in the 3Ds Xl?
So I haven't played my 3DS for some time now, and neither my brother nor I realized we needed to put in a Micro SD card until now. It wasn't a problem then but it requires now and when I did inserted a Micro SD card, it was loose. Like I can more around and shake it out. I was not too sure if they are supposed to loose or not but when I looked up on YT, it was supposed to easily insert it in and fit.
So is there any possibility of it being fixed? Current? Or am I screwed.
Screen dot
Mi upper screen has a dot but I’m not sure how serious it is. I don’t know if it’s a serious problem or only some dirtiness behind the screen. Looking from the side I can see the screen behind the dot and every so often it moves specially if I touch it. Can you tell me if I it’s serios or only some dirtiness.
Thank you 🤗
Screwy new 3ds xl
Okay, so I really need help repairing my new 3ds xl. I have hundreds of hours of save files. And I have hundreds of mons in pokemon bank.
Its acting like it has stick drift, and like the touch screen isnt working.
I have replaced the bottom screen, the touch screen, the d pad board, the abxy board, and the joystick. And the home button ribbon bc that also isnt working.
Once none of that worked, I bought another system and swapped only the motherboard, and the problem was still there. So it has to be something to do with the motherboard. None of my ribbon connectors look broken. I cant find any loose pins on my chips. The only response from my touch screen is when I touch top left corner, it clicks the bottom right button on screen. But only if its in bottom corner. I cant even do a system transfer bc the touch screen doesnt work.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do to either fix the problem or get my nnid moved to a new system since Nintendo will no longer unlink it remotely.

New 2ds XL/LL D-pad drift I have ordered a new replacement membrane sticker for it do you think that would help repair it
ds not holding charge/charging at a certain angle
My 2ds ended up having issues (seeing as I got it when I was like 5) so I bothered my brother for his, thinking it would be better and overall it's great, and everything works, except the battery, it will only charge at a certain angle, and for some reason it won't stay charged, I asked him about it and he told that he also hadn't touched his for a really long time, so he doesn't know.
I've looked into it, and similar issues say battery issue, but non say anything about it only charging at a certain angle, and I was just wondering if it's possible to replace the charging port too? And of so how much would that cost..?
I'm 15 but bro I make genuine pennies, I got a job, but I just don't get paid too much, that's why I won't buy a new ds unless necessary so is this maybe a possible cheap fix..?
I have Pokémon in the Bank. My old 3DS XL has problems in both screen, what's are my options?
The upper screen turn on but always is black. The bottom screen blink all time. I need transfer my Pokémon before the close of Pokémon Bank. The 3DS runs retail firmware.
Please, help.
