No one tells you your mental health goes in the shitter too

I got on prednisone a week ago, a low dose because I had taken laxatives for constipation, which I think caused diarrhea. I also had a bad fissure from said constipation but because I'm switching to a biosimilar drug I thought it was a flare up. Now everytime I go to the bathroom I compulsively check my shit for blood, regardless of how small. To the point where I'm agonizing for like ten minutes over some speck that I'm not even sure is blood, but it haunts me. My antibody markers are perfect for the new drug, my inflammation was very mild when I did a calprotectin test, I just feel like I'm losing my mind. I need to stop checking so compulsively but I keep thinking that every time I go to take a shit, it's gonna be the one and a large flare will break out.

Got these for a dollar a tape

Alongside some TDK type Is but these were super cool, got a coating of dust when I found them in a bin between some records but they cleaned up nicely. Now to put some music on them...

Flare or fissures

I'm noticing some blood again when I go. I got an poop inflammation test back and it's slightly elevated, so I think there's something going on but the cuts I have are making it awful. No matter how much water I drink I'm constipated. Laxatives make me cramp, I think I'll have to take pred for a short time and see if it clears up but has anyone else gotten bleeding and mucus from constipation and fissures? I'm not convinced the disease is back quite yet, it's always bright red and feels like I'm shitting glass. when the laxatives worked the bleeding stopped as the stool became softer.

Ulcerative Colitis and HIV/PrEP

Hey everyone, I'm a 20 year old guy, and I've had ulcerative colitis for almost 5 years now. With medication I've gotten to a point where I am pretty healthy to my knowledge but I've wanted to have some sort of an intimate experience for a while now. Regardless of whether it's a hookup or with someone I know, I want to do this in a way that's safe for us both, but so I don't wake up one morning to find out I have two life-long immune diseases to deal with now.

I don't know if my doctor is really affirming or helpful on these topics and I don't want to have her possibly mention it to my parents in the future, who I am dependent on financially. Is there some way I could get advice from people with this condition or from some sort of gay-friendly medical association on whether taking PrEP would be safe for me, as in not cause a flare? Thanks a lot.

Should I replace this tube? I think there's a leak

Tube pictured is a Raytheon 6BL8. Got it out of an old tape recorder that I'm trying to fix. When I first bought the recorder I replaced all of the capacitors with modern equivalents since I was worried the old paper and electrolytic caps would've gone bad. Most of them did when I tested them, but there was a loud humming present on the output when I turned it on. It's independent of the power supply, when I changed the supply rectifier configuration from a half wave to a full wave, the hum remained at 60hz. I traced the signal back to the plate of this vacuum tube, where it disappears at the grid. It looks a bit funny to me, almost like the vacuum seal is bad around the pins. If you zoom in the legs are white inside the tube body. Weirdly enough the silver deposit around the getter isn't white. Would I be correct in assuming maybe the humming is caused because this tube has gone bad? I don't have equipment to test it unfortunately.

Insurance Denied Meds part 2

I'm beside myself, my doctor has been battling the insurance for close to a month and a half now, they've got nothing to say but denials for the medication I've had success on for close to 3 years now. Did a peer to peer which they said yes on but the insurance rejected it, now time for appeals. I reached out to Abbvie to try and get on the program where you get a low cost for a year if you qualify but it's not really a guarantee. Chances are I'll have to start over again. New medication, new period of waiting, back to checking my shit with a goddamn q tip. Fuck this place. Fuck it in its dry unlubricated asshole

insurance bullshit

I wonder if anyone has had the same experience as me. I changed insurance a month ago, and the new insurance is insistent on making me switch to a biosimilar, which I tried a few years back and had a horrible reaction to. Now they're denying the medication I'm currently on. I'm scared at this point, I haven't had any bleeding in a year and I just want to stay on the med that works. My doctor scheduled a peer to peer with them tomorrow, and I'm wondering how long it will take for them to come to a verdict and what my next steps are. Do I have any leverage in this situation?

I was in this record store in Austin, called End of an Ear. Very big selection of music, they sold Maxell blank tapes in 6 packs for 12 dollars, but the best part of all this was the stereo showroom in the back. I found this sitting in the corner, tucked between some 500 dollar vacuum tube amplifiers. The price tag, 25 dollars. As advertised, it's not perfect, it needs a bit of servicing, but considering the price of these normally and how cool they look, I am thrilled I managed to snag it.

It seems like they all just monopolized or something, if you want a movie that the precious 3 servers and their 500 clone sites can't do without buffering worse than a 1G internet connection you're shit out of luck.
