How much different is Milla’s story from Jude’s?

I finally beat Jude’s story in Tales of Xillia a couple of days ago. Do I need to play the game again as Milla to understand what happens in Xillia 2? What exactly is different in Milla’s story? Is it mostly the same experience gameplay wise?
