Recommendation: Flashlight Brown - My Degeneration (2003)

Seen them a few times around early 2003. Opened for Sum 41, great band and a very enjoyable album from a band I feel a lot of people don’t know or at least talk about.

Consider education

For whatever reason I posted this prior and it got deleted by automod…so trying again.

I see several posts a day of people struggling in the job market. One thing I will say, is that I retired a year ago and I’m currently pursing a degree in accounting. To supplement my income I have taken up substitute teaching. At this point I’m considering getting my teaching cert when I earn my degree and will probably do that over accounting. Couple observations as I get ready to wrap up the school year.

  1. I get it’s not for everyone, but anecdotally most places I’ve been at are already hurting for teachers and would welcome the help. If you have the ability and the temperament it’s actually a lot easier to get into than you’d think.

  2. It can be really rewarding, and the pay (while you’re not making six figures off the bat) is not bad, especially if this is to supplement other income you may have. Pension, va comp, MGIB, etc.

  3. More and more states are offering veterans quicker pathways to full certification getting them in the classroom with provisional certificates in a lot of cases.

  4. A lot of the positions are salaried and include the summers off with pay. Most come with benefits as well.

  5. If you go the substitute route, the freedom to create your own schedule is awesome for anyone balancing another job, school, appointments, whatever.

If you have any questions, shoot.

Did timing screw me here? Or am I misunderstanding something.

Had a mortgage refi, payoff was quoted and signed refi paperwork on 30 March. Think to myself ok cool, should be paid off, I won’t have a payment on the new loan until 1 May.

April 1st bank auto-drafts my monthly payment. Now on my statement I received it says that the refi closed 3 April.

I called the loan servicer to explain, hey this was paid off via the new loan, I expect my payment for April back. They can’t find anything so I’m having to take it higher but I’m suspecting that they timed it where I paid my monthly payment and then paid the loan off… so that way I’ll get refunded the $500 bucks or so that my principle was paid down, while they keep the interest instead of refunding me the entire payment for that month.

Am I fundamentally misunderstanding something here or should I push back on this harder. I’m still waiting to hear back from their “research department”

house from a regional builder, 4 lot subdivision, rural. gravel driveway. Seems like they gave no fucks about water runoff or erosion. I’m wonderin if I have grounds to get litigious with the builder if they continue to ghost me. I’ve got more pics but respecting the subs rules, can pm more. in the house less than 1yr and they’re still trying to sell one of the lots if that makes a difference.

▲ 3 r/WGU

So currently pursuing a degree, but have the opportunity to take a job somewhere while I continue. One of the requirements is to have 60 college credits. Now I know WGU is different with their competency units versus traditional credit hours. Has anyone had experience with it?
