Can you review these slides and provide some advice (Science outreach talk).

Hi I am giving this presentation tomorrow. It's a public engagement lecture/ university outreach so I want it to be fun, informal and a bit tacky 1980's themed. but I also want it to be good quality: people are paying to ome see the talk and coming in their spare time. Any advice for improving these slides. The main message I want to convey is Newcastle should be proud of our achievements in Engineering. is this too much blowing of my own trumpet. is there enough experimental results in this? how hard is it to understand as a first time reader/ layman? it's got to be accessable but I don't want it to be too patronising for the audience either.

Repairs to my price-less "Martin _" 😉

Zero budget DIY repair of a price-less (£0. Found in a bin) Martin (Smith cheap & nasty Amazon.com acoustic).

damage:

  • Two big holes in the body.
  • Lifting bridge
  • Action set up and neck bow way too high.
  • Tuners loose.

repairs:

  • filled in the holes with layers of scrap wood (mostly from a disposable fruit&veg basket) and PVA wood glue.
  • Reglued the bridge (using Poundland super glue.)
  • recut the nut (using old strings as nutslot files)
  • lowered the bridge and done up the truss rod.
  • polished the frets (using brasso)
  • tuners I've removed and reattached glueing toothpicks in the holes to make them screw on tightly.
  • coated it with spraycan varish I had lying around.
  • new set of cheapest strings off eBay Total cost ~£4

It's really an awful guitar. Maybe I've saved it from the bin but did it Deserve to be saved from the bin ? 😄
