Women's Milwaukee Classic Leather Moto Jacket Sizing Review- DETAILED
Overview: The women's Classic Milwaukee jacket is not the best fit for petite women, but I'm sure it's not the worst either. If you're curvy, and want to wear the jacket closed, sizing up is your best bet. For petite women, this jacket may drown you and feel bulky.
I'd like to start off by saying I am reviewing this jacket as a fashion jacket. I dont buy fashion jackets because I like the concealed carry pockets in moto jackets. I'm sure most people purchasing these for fashion purposes feel the same.
I previously had this jacket in size M, and decided it was too tight for my liking. Though it could just barely zip up over my hips and chest, I think it looked better on, even if I had to wear it unzipped. I recently purchased a size L in women's to see if I liked it better. Unfortunately, I did not.
The sleeves are always too long, grazing my knuckles sometimes uncomfortabley. The thickness of the leather, while durable and purposeful for biking purposes I'm sure, is almost uncomfortably thick at points, bunching up unflatteringly at joints and folding points of the body, and often "puffing up" at the chest with arms raised, resembling a frog ribbiting or bird fluffing its feathers. My previous jacket, while it did soften with age, still presented these problems occasionally. I must have had it for about 3 years before giving it away.
That being said, I like the quality of the jacket and all it offers in terms of storage, pockets, hardware, and the zip out liner. It feels well made and looks great, but it is clearly made for a different body size than mine.
Measurements of the jacket are:
•Shoulders: 17 & 1/4"
• Chest: 22.5"
• Nape to Hem: 24 & 1/2"
• Arms: 24 &1/4"
•Waist (bottom Hem ): 21 & 1/4"
For reference, my measurements were taken at the sites in the photo and are as below:
Height: ~5'2"
•Shoulders: 15.5"
• Chest: 39"
•Natural Waist: 35"
• Nape to Natural Waist: 19"
• Shoulders to wrist: ~22
• Hips: 41"
I hope this helps the next person considering this Milwaukee jacket. I find it increasingly frustrating when online size charts post some to little measurements, and reviews online simply state "fits great" with no detail. You'd think for such a popular jacket, there'd be more in depth reviews, but whatever. I'll be listing this jacket on Depop if anyone is interested.
I've found that first manufacturing offers custom sizing on their Rockstar jacket with a thinner leather and offers the same details I like in this jacket, so you may see a review of that next. If you're reading this and have the Rockstar, I'd appreciate any opinions ot insight you have on it! Cheers, everyone,
