Did Kevin Flynn personally care more about Clu 1.0 or Anon's derezzing?
Both of these programs were created by Kevin Flynn, Clu 1.0 and Anon served their directives and ended up dying because of it, but which derezzing do you think affected Kevin Flynn more?
Blue liquid seems to be the energy "food" for programs, and we see programs drinking green liquid at the End of Line. We know similar green/yellow color means virus from Evolution. My theory is programs get "drunk" by making themselves malfunction with "poisoned" energy that has a weak virus in it
I know it's probably not canon, especially because viruses in Evolution are more yellow than green, but it would be an awesome bit of lore and is definitely one of my headcanons.
Commission - Tez (OC)
Does he have what it takes to be the chosen prototype of the Master Control Program? No. Is it everyone else’s problem now? Yea :)
@theliteralbestrobot <- my first ever commission for this person!! Also perhaps my new favorite OC of the franchise.
Flynn Lives Poster
Hello! I am downsizing as I am needing to move back home to take care of my family member.
I'm interested in parting ways with this poster I received when participating in the 2010 Flynn Lives online viral campaign.
I can't believe that was 16 years ago! I still have the pins (I am keeping those!).
I am interested in connecting with someone locally (Houston area!). Let me know. I would rather this go to a fan. ❤️
Finally I got it
The soundtrack from Legacy sadly got lost in the mail, but I found this one second-hand and sealed in FB marketplace, it sounds amazingly on my stereo.

Why Zuse is the most complex character in Legacy and why he was done dirty in prequel stories
I think Michael Sheen put an insane amount of work into Zuse's character given how little time he has in Legacy, and I think both the writing and Sheen's amazing performance show tons of details about him. And his character was completely misunderstood and messed up in his depictions that take place before Legacy.
Zuse very clearly says that he was not some bar owner before the Purge, he was more like an administrator or an architect program: "Zuse was here since the earliest days of the Gaming Grid. By necessity, he had to mastermind all the percentages, all the angles". Also "Gaming Grid" could mean Flynn's Grid that at first was focused on games, but it's also the way some parts of the Old Encom Grid were called in the first movie, so it's possible Flynn brought Zuse all the way from there, making him less personally attached to Flynn's Grid since it's not where he was "born". Then he says that he needed to "reinvent himself for self-preservation" after the Purge, meaning his fancy bar owner persona is just a mask, not who he really is.
I think him pointing out that he designed himself those floating stairs in the club is another small detail that hints he is an architect program at heart, that's his old identity leaking.
When talking about the portal being far away he says "your father didn't want any program slipping away accidentally, did he", he has an angry undertone because that program is him, he sees Flynn's Grid as prison and desperately wants to get out.
Him saying that Sam needs a forged disk, which is "not easy these days, by the way" is mentioned that way because he is the one who had to forge his own disk like a fake passport to fully embrace the Castor identity. It was probably a long, complicated, and painful story that has potential to be as complex as Jimmy McGill becoming Saul Goodman.
He is clearly shocked when he finds out Quorra is still alive and says they had a past, and that "he believed in users once before". Quorra also mentioned he helped her and other ISO's escape during the Purge.
Also, the way he delivers "Now, what can I do... for you" line has this demeaning ring to it because Zuse can't stand users. And the way he said "the game has changed, son of Flynn" and "behold, the son of our ma-a-aker" again has a demeaning tone to it.
I think his most important moment is when he sees Quorra for the first time after so many years. The way he laughs at her isn't really a mocking, confident, or excited laughter, it's a weird maniacal laugh, more like him barking at her like a nervous dog. It's because Quorra is probably the only person who can remember what he was like before the Purge, she makes Zuse feel seen and uncomfortable because it reminds him of everything about his past self he abandoned and how cynical he has become. This laughter is not an attack at her but an exhaust valve, an emergency psychological defense of his fake, constructed self. Quorra hit a nerve because Zuse was on the side of ISO's but also hated both the users and CLU's regime, his conflicted choices allowed him to survive but led to many ISO's dying despite his efforts to help them because he couldn't fully commit without drawing too much attention or picking any side other than his own.
When he sees Kevin, he's obviously surprised and intimidated by him, the whole "awe was palpable" thing, but I think you can also see a little bit of disgust or hatred in his face.
During his "negotiations" with CLU he's that same gregarious guy who is joking around while trying to get to the point of CLU giving him control of the Grid City, which I think is also interesting because based on what he said before he clearly wants to get out of Flynn's Grid, not rule it. And then he begins to probe CLU by asking him about the "chattah" of his initiative. Zuse clearly has bigger ambitions that he doesn't want CLU to know about, mainly leveraging a doomed regime for an exit and escaping the Grid, but CLU already guessed so and decided to kill him then and there. The way a person behaves in their final moments show what that person really is: when he realizes what CLU is about to do, he doesn't throw another tantrum, he drops the clown mask and just stands silently half accepting his fate and half afraid to die because "self-preservation" was his main purpose this whole time.
He was done extremely dirty when he showed up in prequel stories--Tron Evolution and Tron Betrayal--where both take place not long before the Purge. In both he is messed up as a character and shown as the exact same flamboyant quirky bar owner, not a completely different person with a different role on the Grid based on what he said in Legacy. And he doesn't even get a mention in Uprising, possibly reserved for cancelled second season or not planned to show up at all.
I think when you put all of these pieces together, Zuse becomes a very interesting and layered character, someone with years of emotional baggage underneath an exhausting performance of flamboyant confidence.
In my headcanon Zuse looked completely different before the Purge, kind of like this young Michael Sheen photo but with more Tron-ified haircut and outfit. A competent, idealistic program that had an important role on the Grid, believing he is working for a greater cause under Flynn. He could be used to deliver the point that young Flynn was not some paragon of virtue, he was arrogantly and recklessly playing God on his isolated gaming grid while telling himself a cute story about building utopia before ISO's showed up, and after ISO's he completely neglected Basics and treated them as an irrelevant side project, the "hall of mirrors" ISO's shattered. Unlike CLU, Zuse had nothing against ISO's and was friends with them, but he got completely disillusioned with the worship of users as some omnibenevolent gods. He was one of the first programs to personally work with a user--Flynn--inside the Grid, and he got completely disappointed with what he saw and the tragedy Flynn's actions led to. That's why he decided to pick his own side and play the long-term game of trying to get out of the Grid, while still following his moral compass and helping out some ISO's.

Idea for Tron city builder game where you can build your own Grid only by writing code and executing terminal commands
For a long time I thought that Tron setting would make for an amazing city builder game, but I used to imagine it like a generic city builder game where you have a conventional UI interface that allows you to drag-and-drop buildings and such.
But I think it would be way better and more unique if you had to build your own Grid exclusively by writing code in some simple programming language made for the game, or by executing UNIX-like commands inside of a terminal. Wanna derezz a malfunctioning or rebel program? You have to run a command that makes a sentry guard program on a recognizer go after it. Wanna have a new program living in your Grid? You have to write out actual code for it where you specify what that program does. Of course you don't have to type it out every single time, you can save templates (which you still need to create yourself or at least look them up online) and then modify them accordingly. Eventually you orchestrate entire subsystems--or city districts--with a few high-level commands because you wrote the abstractions.
Like this scene from Legacy where Edward Dillinger is trying to stop the leak of OS-12. He first runs a command that shows which process is connected to the master file, and then runs the command that essentially derezzes that program to stop the leak.
So there would be two main screens in the game, one looks like a terminal that Sam or Dillinger use in the film, it will allow you to write commands or code and also show the stats of your Grid in a computer-y way (like CPU load, list of programs, etc):

https://i.redd.it/djbx303o3ibh1.gif
And the other one that looks like a more normal city builder with bird's eye view where you can fly around and observe your Grid and its inhabitants:

https://i.redd.it/2tiavqym3ibh1.gif
Your Grid can have many purposes and they can even simulate solving real-world tasks. You could have a scientific Grid where your programs calculate, analyze, and process scientific data. Or financial grid. Or hospital system. Or giant datacenter for a search engine. Or you could even write your own games with custom rules!
You have to take care of delivering energy to your programs (that blue liquid we see them drinking in films), managing traffic (literally and figuratively), solving bugs and malfunctions, securing your grid against external subtle hacking or huge DDoS attacks if it's connected to the web (which is comparable to a small team infiltrating you like Ares infiltrated Encom Grid, and a giant army flooding your Grid), and making sure your programs not only have purpose but can also be entertained through watching or participating in games or going to clubs similar to End of Line.
"Well wouldn't the screen that shows the Grid be useless since you can only interact with it through text commands?" you might ask, and I think that's not the case. By having your entire system visualized you will be able to fly around the Grid and identify where exactly it malfunctions or how exactly it should be expanded or modified. Instead of reading through your code you will be able to just peek inside the computer and debug by observing directly what's broken. And yeah, you can just use it to admire your own creation and look at tiny programs walking around living out their virtual lives.

open.spotify.comHosting a free TRON: Legacy screening in Atlanta
Hey All. Just wanted to pop in because I still have a small number of seats available. I’m a film/tv content creator and decided to host my first ever screening, and chose my favorite movie ever, TRON: Legacy.
Its going to be in Sandy Springs, Georgia on July 15th. If you would like more details, please DM me on here or Instagram (@ParkCultureTT). Once again the screening is free, but food and drink is not. There will be a couple cool TRON giveaways, and it should be a fun night. Seats are first come first serve.
End of Line.
Is the Dillinger Jump Jet really an upgrade?
I love how Tron Ares didn't forget to include animations for rezzing vehicles in the Grid world. But what really struck me as odd was the design of the Jump Jet. Yes, it has 4x the light ribbons as the one-man Light Jet from Legacy... but it has no guns. I thought Julian was designing weapons of war here.
He explained that the DART has guns on it plus the battering ram, because he intended it to be rezzed IRL for military use. Now, I can excuse Athena for never using those DART cannons presumably because the turret requires a separate operator. But I can't really excuse any of the Jump Jet pilots for only using light ribbons for offense. That's dumb. If Julian really wanted to supply the military with Jump Jets, he should've added guns to them. Clu's aircraft all had guns, so why not?
The only other feature I noticed from the Jump Jet design is its VTOL capability, which Athena used to hover in place in front of the Encom building. I guess that in itself would be more useful. But overall, I fail to see how the Ares Jump Jet is an upgrade over the Legacy Light Jet.
Found this old spinmaster Rinzler in the bulk 3.75" figures at my local shop for $5! No accessories, but still a great price for an older figure, imo.
Visual parallels in Tron Legacy you might have missed
Tron Legacy has lots of obvious parallels between real world and the Grid, such as CLU's and Kevin's "out there is our destiny/victory" speech, Sam infiltrating Encom/the Grid, or Sam's parachute jump from Encom Tower/CLU's shuttle, the intro slowly transitioning from virtual Grid to the real city, or Quorra seeing sunrise for the first time bit. But there are tons of other less obvious parallels in the film that people may not notice, a few of these I've never heard anyone mention:
- Sam's isolated shipping container house is overlooking the Encom Tower, similar to how Flynn's hideout is overlooking The Grid. Both are symbolic centers of power the two characters have deliberately detached themselves from.
- When trying to stop Sam's leak of OS-12, Edward Dillinger runs a UNIX console command "ps -ef | grep -i os12", which shows that process--or program--17319 is the one that was associated with "master file" os12, basically the process that was supposed to keep that file secure, and then runs "kill -9 17319" command. The "kill" command on its own isn't as harsh as it sounds, it usually sends a SIGTERM signal to a process that politely asks it to shut down, BUT the "-9" part is a flag that means SIGKILL, which is the most forceful way to terminate a process by making the kernel terminate it immediately. I think this is similar to how CLU derezzes Jarvis after finding out he's the one who let Sam slip away with "master key"--Kevin's disc--that he was supposed to protect, and you could imagine some poor program with ID 17319 getting derezzed in a similar way on the Encom Grid when Dillinger runs that console command.
- When presenting Encom OS-12 there's a 3D model of spinning Earth on the screen, similar to hologram of Earth CLU shows during his evil plan reveal speech.
- Might be overthinking this one, but Sam's dog Marvin is explicitly paralleled to Quorra when she says she is Kevin's "rescue" just like Marvin. Both are seemingly the only real friend and companion Sam and Kevin have living with them in their hideouts. But the subtler parallel is when Sam leaks OS-12, there's a video of Marvin barking at the camera he leaves as a prank, which is kinda similar to how CLU sees Quorra's hologram when he found out he got hers and not Kevin's disc. So both Encom and CLU got "pranked" by a Flynn in a similar way.
- Server room inside Encom Tower with rows of server racks with orange lines looks like CLU's army, and also like rows of programs shipped to CLU's flagship. Programs are "enslaved" by being converted into sentries, and server racks are "enslaved" by being used by the evil-run Encom when they could have been working for good purposes under Sam's or Kevin's Encom (like Alan mentioning Encom software used to be free for schools and students, and Kevin's Grid being free and open).
- Not quite visual but Alan working for Encom that is run by greedy evil businessmen is like his creation Tron/Rinzler working for CLU's authoritarian regime with corrupted vision of perfection. Basically a smaller "creator and creation" parallel similar to Kevin-Sam and Kevin-CLU.
- Security guy inside Encom Tower has a view on Sam driving towards it just like sentry guard watching Sam driving into the Grid.
- This one is vaguely implied but I think Sam infiltrating Encom is similar to what Kevin was doing not long after CLU's betrayal, when he says "CLU fed on my resistance". He probably used to do similar sabotages of CLU's regime but then realized at some point that it won't bring it down and will only make it stronger and more radicalized, similar to how Sam's sabotages are basically pranks and don't really hurt Encom much.
- Sam keeps Kevin's old Ducati bike right inside his house, just like how Kevin keeps a lightcycle from the Old Grid inside his hideout.
- Sam being caught in the projector light of a police helicopter and a recognizer.
- Sam hacking the big door and Kevin hacking "doors" of the elevator line, also the sound effects are similar.
- Ain't that deep but security guard at Encom Tower has a hexagon-shaped flashlight, similar to the Grid's visual language. Hexagon-shaped flashlights aren't that common I think, so idk could be intentional.
Not claiming all of these were intentional, even if not I think it's still a nice way to read them. If you noticed any other ones I'd be happy to hear them!
