Hey everyone, I could use some advice. I’ve got about $12k saved up right now, but I’m also about to move out soon so I know I’m going to have a lot of new expenses coming at me. At the same time, I’ve been driving an old SUV for a while and I’m honestly just itching to get something that’s actually fun and feels like mine, not just a boring daily. I want something I can work on myself, slowly build up, and actually be proud of driving.
I’ve been looking into cars like the Mustang GT, BRZ, and Miata because they all seem like they’d be a blast in different ways. I’ve actually driven my dad’s manual Miata and really liked it, but I’m not sure something that small is the most practical for me long-term. Ideally I’d like something with at least four seats.
I’m also struggling to really narrow down the right car for me, and I’m not sure where the best places to look are besides just Facebook Marketplace.
For those of you who’ve been in a similar spot, would you hold off until after moving out, or is there a smart way to get into something fun without screwing myself over financially? And how did you guys decide on the car and find it?
