Can someone explain BT25 Gracenovamon's Counter ability to me?

I know when you attack and finish resolving your "when attacking" abilities there is a "Counter" window when an opponent can respond with an Ace, but when during that window would Gracenova's "Counter" ability go off? Would it be in response to your opponent's counter so you could strip his sources and end your attack? Or would yours resolve first as the active player?

Or do I have that completely wrong, and you have a "when attacking" trigger for that on your turn but the counter ability is on your opponents turn and you can use in instead of an Ace where you source strip the opponent's digimon in the counter window and cancel their attack?

Do we have any updates on volume 4? I haven't seen anything in years but it feels like there's a ton of story left to tell.

Did something happen to the author or has the series just been abandoned?
